trailboss, you made burke way too easy

You got that right, even I knew it. I've never even been there!! ;)

I know, I know. I was getting way too passionate.

OK, next one

In 1962, the Patenaude boys, three brothers in their 20's, decided that they wanted to own their own ski area. The nearest ski areas were quite a ways off and they wanted a place that was less crowded. So they scouted me out...a hill outside of their hometown. Their father thought they were nuts when they bought me...he helped pay for it...thinking that they were going to take my trees.

So they created me with an Swiss double chair, which is still operating, and a T-bar. The lodge was built by the family by hand and has been since moved and enlarged a lot.

I am proud to have been one of the first ski areas to have snowmaking in my state and during one snowless winter in the 1970's the US Cup came to my slopes because we had snow. Racing is still big on my slopes, but lots of families come to ski, ride, and tube my slopes. Who am I? :-?

Patenaude

Would this be Pat's Peak?

She's just too good!

OK, another one.

I am one of two remaining. I was originally founded on Chipman Hill with a ski jump and a few odd trails before they moved me to my present location. My owner was given a lot more land up there. I have two doubles and a triple. I was one of the first of these to get a POMA in the 1950's.

I have some snowmaking, but not a lot and a new lodge. I'm a locals place and a racer's place. Some tough, narrow trails. You can still ski me for under $40 on a Saturday and there will be fewer people. Who am I?

Here's a new one for you:

My trails closed and lifts stopped turning in 1977 and I was virtually abandoned.

The bridge linking the area to the main road all but disappeared with only the superstructure still intact.

Structures on my premises were in advanced stages of deterioration and partial collapse.

Trails grew in enough to prohibit passerby's from knowing that I had once been a fairly successful ski area.

I re-opened with a new name in 2003 (very close to the end season.)

Work is still happening on my slopes, in hopes that I can once again return to my former glory.

Oh My God, I so meant to say Middlebury Snow Bowl.
I was thinking of clues to leave for Dartmouth Skiway and put the wrong name, sorry.

BTW- My clues above are not Dartmouth clues, for those who did not know. Those MAY come later, but not necessarily.

Let's move this to the top again so people know it is not answered.

New Area

I was a popular destination for the ski trains in the 30's and 40's.

For years I operated as a successful ski destination by winter and a "dude" ranch in the summer.

1963 a former Middlebury College skier and his wife purchased me.

He and his wife became the youngest proprietors of a ski mountain at the age of 28.

Today I operate with 8 lifts, have 22 trails on 110 acres of skiable terrain and offer snow tubing.

What area am I?

And another new one...refer to this one as New B

My creator once owned an Inn in the white mountains of New Hampshire.

My creator was a ski instructor at a major New Hampsire area.

My creator filmed the 1948 Olympics and went on to make ski movies for Swiss Air.

I was created in 1960.

I had a Swiss Village at my base.

My steeps, trees and cliffs on the upper half seem to daunt even the most skilled on the snow.

Who am I?
