Last minute, we decided to head up to Ski Sundown for the Winter Carnival (11AM-2PM). Got there around 1:20PM and missed all the cotton candy :( but no matter, our daughter had fun anyway. She got out for the 1st time on the $10 skis and $12 boots we got at Sundown's ski swap back in November and she LOVED it!! Brian walked her around the base over near the Magic Carpet and she was all smiles. She came down the little bit from about the top of the Magic Carpet down a few times, then went to play in the igloo by lift 3. Going from lift 3 to the base lodge, she shuffled on her skis most of the way without assistance. ("No! I want to do it by myself!!" - and she did a better job than many adults I've seen on Sunnyside, too!)

Now I'm wondering when Brian's going to take her for a real ski day. She's too young for group lessons (2.5 years old and not potty-trained yet) but we have one of those edgy-wedgie things so maybe he'll give that a go next time. She sure was excited. Even when she was sitting on the chair next to lift 3, she was asking to go up lift 3!

They grow up too fast!!!

And it will just keep getting better!

That's awesome! She is obviously very happy, and proud of herself, as well she should be. This will add a whole new dimension to the sport for you both. Its funny, but you will find yourselves having much more fun edging down the greens, then ripping the blacks.8)

What a great smiles!

oh man, skiing and not-potty trained? I wouldn't dare! ;) Can you imagine, frozen diapers!

Nice to see a smiling happy beginner. You don't see that much!

My daughter skied her first season in diapers too

That is awesome! Gotta start them young. We have started doing the same thing with our granddaughter. She is 21 months old. Nothing but smiles and skiing is all she talks about!

I was real proud of her. She really had fun. Though, I don't think she really understands that the actual skiing part of skiing involves sliding down the hill, she seemed a bit freaked out when that happened. ;)

The only problem was that we had a heck of a time getting her away from that igloo when we were done...

Thanks for the link, I was wondering how much those grab harnesses cost and where to get one.

WOW! According to that website, our 8 month old should be skiing already, too! Did you see this?

7.5 months old with 25 ski days under her belt??? I'll be lucky if I get that many this season!

In any case, I agree with Brian that I'm not sure she totally understands it, but she still enjoyed herself. Next time we'll just have to come better prepared to spend extended time on the snow. And the frozen diapers don't bother me so much...there are worse things that could happen with diapers, and maybe that would be an incentive for her to use the potty instead. ;)

Looks like you have a little pink storm trooper on your hands. ;-)

Great job B and Sev. It looks like she had a blast. Is she already asking when she is getting out next?

LOL @ the pink storm trooper! :D

All she's been talking about this morning is how she's going to go skiing with Daddy again, and that she's going to go on the real chair!

The good news is that a Child's ticket is only $15. Looks like we may be up there Sunday again. Gotta keep her excited about it, after all!
