Alot of us live in the northeast because of our roots, job, or because we're happy with with we live. Ideally I'd want to live in Jackson Wyoming but for now my job is keeping me in PA. Do you think you might live somewhere else in 10 years? I think I'll still be in PA, but it would be cool to one day take the months of January and February off work and live in a hotel in Jackson Hole..and get 50-60 days in out there..with early and late season skiing in the east...

I lived in Montana from 2002-04 and pay was low as was cost of living but other than the great cold smoke powder and the mountains..I prefer the fast based east coast/rat race..

No doubt. I have a HS lacrosse dynasty to help build in my town. And I don't plan on moving any further from NE skiing. Moving out West isn't an option now that we are raising a family and all of our relatives live in CT/NY.

Well I lived in the Massachusetts for 18 years, I'm living in cali now though, but once I get out of the Marines and get a job I'd like to find a place in Northern Vermont

If I was still single I would probably pick up and move at least for a few years.

If I move it will be north to NH.

No.

My parents are moving to North Carolina, my brother's in Arizona, and most of my friends are already gone. The only thing keeping me here is a quality job, but if Global Warming keeps up, that isn't gong to be enough to keep me away from skiing.

I'll be gone in about 5 years.

Yes, I definitely plan on staying in New England, probably here in Maine. I've lived here almost two years and so far its my favorite of the New England states, which includes 12 years in Vermont through High School, College and living in Stowe for a number of years. I prefer the skiing in Northern Vermont to Maine as well as the political climate, but for Maine as a total package is better. I guess it's because I've fallen in love with the ocean, which one has to have something to do other than ski in the summer.

I've lived all over the country including out west in Colorado and nothing beats New England if you ask me. Sure, skiing is different and in many ways better out west, but there's something that I enjoy about powder days in the woods in New England. I'm also a HUGE Boston sports fan and definitely enjoy the unique pride most of New England takes in our teams. There's nothing like it anywhere else in the country.

I've definitely traveled and lived enough places to quell my curiosity and New England simply is it for me.

Definately. I have lived here my whole life, all my family is here, and I just enjoy being here. I plan to grow old right here in western Maine.

Without a doubt. The house we purchased in 2005 is the long-term house, the ones the kids will remember growing up in. I love New England - so much variation within an 8 hour drive. I like all four seasons (winter's the best, obviously), my entire immediate family is in CT and MA and I've lived here my whole life. I wouldn't mind being closer to NNE skiing, but right now I'm content.

Staying here.

As I get older...I want access (easy access) to quality health care.

ALSO...I've lived elsewhere. Everyplace else that I lived was an oasis. Civilization surrounded by nothing.

Here in the Northeast...if it's not in Boston, it's Providence, or Poertsmouth, or the lakes or the ocean...you get my point.

It's hard to "max out" around here.

I don't know if I'd want to move much further north. I like the easy access to the North country, but I like the summer temps where I am.

HOWEVER...If I ever win the lottery...all bets are off.

As soon as I get done with school I hope to move out west somewhere. Yea the skiing is great in the winter time, but the other seasons are great out there too. Now I just need to find a place up in teh mountains, yet large enough to have a decent city.

With friends that go off to every corner of the world season after season, I want for nothing. It's a hard place to live if you live for 1 thing. But if you embrace everything New England has to offer, you'll find there isn't enough time to do everything you want within few hours drive of your house, and even in your back yard if you look. Get into what's in your back yard and feel more connected to where you live.
Ski
Bike
Climb
Paddle
When 1 sucks, a couple other things are going OFF.

ps
and if you love powder, you should buy a whie water Kayak and learn to roll IMMEDIATELY. Talk about flow....and every time you go it's waist deep.
East Coast is where I am and it's where I'll B.

Wow alot of East Coast Pride on here...Ideally I'd live in Jackson Hole for their four month season early December to early April...and live in the east the rest of the year with a summer ski trip or two..but I need to save more money first..

I toy with the idea of moving to Vancouver where my sister has lived since 1985. Whistler and Mt Baker aren't bad skiing options. I also toy with the idea of retiring to Santa Fe, NM and getting my ocean fix in July/August. Summer is the high season in Santa Fe so I could rent my house and cover my housing expenses for the year. I really like Ski Santa Fe and the town is a great place.

In town, it rarely snows. The ski resort is much higher elevation and has a microclimate that gets pretty good snow. Ski Santa Fe averages 225". Aspen only averages 225-250". The Vermont snow belt averages 250". It's not Alta but it gets plenty of snow. Wolf Creek isn't all that far for early season skiing.

I moved to Vermont from Jackson Hole 11 years ago and I don't plan on leaving anytime soon. Surprisingly, I don't miss the place that much. We have some great skiing here at the Bush and alot of other hills as well.

The summers here in Vermont are just right..in JH/jellowstone/grand Teton NP's it's tourist hell with nice scenery.

But Jackson Hole is so much better than Sugarbush and Stowe and what-not...Stowe is my favorite in the east but Jackson Hole is my favorite in the US....Don't you miss the Hobacks and the cold smoke cowboy powder along with the 4k vert runs..and no ice..??? Jackson Hole to me is heaven..even on a so-called hardpacked day..I just wish the resort opened at 7:30AM or 8:00AM instead of 9

i went there for my first time this year. the snow was perfect, sun strong, and some of the best tree skiing i've ever had. the city is also pretty cool. that would be an excellent choice imo.
