*People who smoke in a crowded lift line.

*Uphill skiers who run into you and say, "look out!"

*Alpine recreationists who plop their butt right in the middle of a narrow trail.

I love these gripe threads!

We have had threads like this before, but smokers in the lift line really anger me. If someone ask if they can smoke on the the lift I usually say ok, but I'm not happy. The lift line smokers don't give a
s--t.

How about being stuck in a gondola sitting across from a guy who has breath that could peel layers off your skis.

Breath that could damage the seam sealing on your expensive parka.

Breath that puts this expression on your face:

I rode with a guy at Killington like that. The fact that he was also completely insane only complicated matters.

Last Saturday at Loon we were just talking about how we hate when groups of snowboarders sit in the middle of the trail or just off the lift, making it hard to get by......I get up to take my son down to the mens room and there's a snowboarder sitting on the stairs going downstairs making everyonoe try to get around him.....it was classic.

Not a smoker and don't allow it in my home or car but give the addicts a break when they're outside. In a lift line or on a chair is really the only place smokers are allowed to puff anyway. Can't smoke indoors anymore (thank god) so let them have there fix in peace.

I don't like uphill skiers who pass you and don't say "on your right / left" whatever the case my be. I almost always tell the person I'm about to pass where I am especially the boarders cause god knows where they are going to turn next.

I make it a point to snow (spray snow onto) boarders when they sit RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRAIL. Everyone needs a break sometimes and that's what the SIDES of the trails are for.

No. If I have to breath their 2nd hand smoke, then they there must be retribution.

They can still smoke indoors in Vermont. It's horrible if you go out to breakfast and the place is filled up. Thank goodness Sugar and Spice has the ban on.

In a lift line or on the lift has one of the same problems as inside--you've got a captive audience. If someone upwind of me lights up while I'm in the lift line, there's nowhere to go. Ditto for people ahead on the chair if the wind is blowing down the liftline. Skiing is an athletic endeavor, and my lung capacity is not sufficient to deal with both cigarette smoke and working hard. If someone wants to smoke on the side of the hill, in the woods, or somewhere else where there's no captive audience downwind...that's definitely their business. Ingesting toxins on your own time is (IMO) your right. Creating a situation where I have to ingest your toxins as part of an unrelated activity is not.

I don't like uphill skiers who pass you and don't say "on your right / left" whatever the case my be. I almost always tell the person I'm about to pass where I am especially the boarders cause god knows where they are going to turn next.

I'll do that on cat tracks, but I otherwise don't, for two reasons:
a) I'm usually not close enough when passing for someone to hear and understand me
b) I've seen people turn in that direction as a result of announcing "on your left" or "on your right" more than once

What if I have to do a check turn because I didn't see you in the middle on Anna Purna?

And what are you doing in the middle of the trail at Hunter?

You got a death wish?

sit in the middle of a narrow trail and you will deserve it. its just that simple.

Sometimes I lay down smack dab in the middle of the trail as sprawled out as I can get or with all fours up in the air like a dead horse.

I don't think spraying snow on people is cool..

Personally - I prefer when people sit in the middle... Becuase I enjoy the snow on the side of the trail..

I thought people stopped all this violence stuff when they graduate from Hunter to Killington...

Welcome back to your old self... Looks like the DMC patrol is back in effect.

Merry Christmas everyone...
Better things to do...
