After two very good November days on nice soft edgeable manmade, I'm itching to get out again. It's frustrating watching the local haunts struggle to get open. These intermittent snowmaking windows are rough. I have to keep reminding myself it still is only November and all in all, it's been a solid start, but I can't wait for the cold to really take hold. I think it's coming next week...

isn't that why it's called early season?
If it was always good then wouldn't it be prime season

You ought to move up here ;)....most places are open and there is 6 or so inches expected today/tonight!

It would be cool if we could move anyplace we wanted at any point in our lives, but then again, all the good places would be overcrowded and turn in to crapola places.

it would be cool if we could do that, and then kick out all the non-skiers and boarders. basically, we could kick everyone out of snow country who doenst like snow, and leave it for the rest of us who appreciate flakes of frozen water.

It gets even more frustrating when you're dying to use your new skis.

Head North young man, head North:idea:

Seriously, this time of year you just have to get in the car and put some mileage behind you to find snow and butt cold weather.

It's much colder than last year in Northern New England. Some of the lakes in Maine are already freezing up and when we drove from Whiteface to Sunday River snowcover existed for 90% of the trip.

Sunday River has as much opened now as they did in the second week of December last year.:-o

I can't wait for Blue mountain to open hopefully next week...I'm sick of buying lift tickets. I've also driven about 1600 miles in the past 3 weeks for 5 ski days...lol..tomorrow I'm hitting up Big Boulder which is now open top to bottom for a whopping 475 vertical feet but it's only 50 miles away. Blue mountains 1082 vert feels like Jackson Hole in comparison..

NOAA forecasts a high of 2F on saturday at Whiteface. Yikes

I guess khaki shorts and suntan lotion will not be required.

I was looking at NOAA's point and click for elevation 2,388', more or less where we will be skiing to get that 2F reading, but your 14F sounds slightly better:razz:

I read in the forecast discussion that the temperature is likely to drop during the day on saturday.

I am debating weather to ski Gore on sunday or race home in the morning to beat the storm, though the snow looks to hold off until 1-2pm.

Jeez, this is about as good as early season gets as far as good snow making temps and occasional natural snow. I know you are frustrated about not having a local option, but it really doesn't get much more ideal than it has been this month and I suspect frustration is mostly routed in perception after seeing how good the skiing is up north. If you hadn't gotten two good days up north would it be as frustrating? I suspect it would feel like par for the course.

I hear ya, it’s all good by me. Changes in latitude changes in attitude I guess.

Changes in happiness as I head north and the car thermometer goes down while the snowpack gets deeper:spin:
