To be honest, the most fun I had in New Hampshire was at Cranmore. For some reason the skiing in that state never thrilled me as much as it did in Maine or Vermont.

Hmmm.....interesting. Several thoughts came to mind after reading that. For example, if you've only been married once can you honestly tell your wife you're glad you married here?
not a comparable statement unless you only dated your wife. HPD, that sounds like a very compelling reason to stay single, actually! i sure wouldn't want to be tied down to only one ski hill!!! okay, my attempt at humor should make the case that the situation is not comparable. i may not be married, but i have a happily committed man woman thing going right now. ski areas don't get jelous, ya know? ;)

Similar list:

NY: Hunter. Legit in-your-face black diamonds. Ton of snowmaking. Haven't skied Whiteface....yet....
CT: Ski Sundown. Steepest pitch in CT. Great scenery and a cool vibe.
MA: Berkshire East. Especially after a dump. If the snow conditions are marginal, or it's early/late, I give the nod to Jiminy.
NH: Loon. Haven't skied Cannon or Wildcat yet. The East Basin at Loon is fun. Great seeded bump runs.
ME: Sugarloaf/USA. Easy one there.
VT: Sugarbush. When you also consider Mad River Glen, the skiing in the Mad River Valley is hard to beat anywhere in the Northeast, much less just Vermont.

nah, no trois here. one man one woman thing is what i meant ;) i just hate the term "girl friend" and significant other is also lame but partner sounds so, well... gay (though technically i can claim my girl friend as a domestic partner for health care on a technicality since we have lived together long enough. but i digress....

I've only skied in 3 states, so here goes:

MA: Currently gotta give it to my home, Wachusett. I hit Beast on a crappy day, so that might move into first whenever I get to it on a powder day. Jiminy was unimpressive for me. I didn't like 30 second runs.

NH: Cannon. I loved the front five as well as Hardscrabble and Ravine. Of course, there are the infamous Big Link and Bypass, but the good trails out-do those. Zoomer is one of my favorite chairs.

VT: Sugarbush. I love the big variety from the steep natural terrain of Castlerock to the machine made, but still pretty challenging Lincoln Peak. North Lynx is GREAT in the sun. Spring Fling and Snowball were great in March. I didn't experience much at Mt. Ellen. The best thing about SB is it sits 10 minutes from MRG, my second favorite area.

MJ rocks the bumps, Vail has great back bowls, Copper has it all, yet I havn't skied anything in CO. (or Utah for that matter) that I enjoy as much as Abasin.

I agree 100%....Vail is just plain BIG, Copper is sweet, but man...ABASIN just rocks it out...for me it's definately the steeps on Palli....but man that whole mtn rocks.....when you pull your car up..its like BLAM...here i am come try and ski me. Great hike to chutes...and stays open til the snows gone, hardly EVER a line..what more could one ask for?

Jackson Hole however has my heart forever...::::SIGH::::::::

Canada. Mt St anne.
Limited knowledge Northeast only.

I like the areas that make the most snow. I feel like I'm getting something back for my money.

Lets not bash otheres choices. The vibe of the thread was to get posters ideas not judge.

Montageskier welcome. I hear good stuff about Watervilles' park. My son likes Loons'. Strong positive reviews from both camps.
We watched the Huck and hike at Loon this weekend. Many WV stickers in the lot.
