HPD, gore and the 'face have long appealled to me from a far. hopefully now that i am closer i can justify the drive. wasn't doable previously, but even from the NEK that has to be at least a four hour drive...

I have a friend in Plattsburg that says Jay is about 1 1/2 hour drive for him. WF is about 40 mins. south of Plattsburg. Going south the exits on 87 for WF and Gore are about 30 mins. apart.

Sounds like a weekend trip and do them both. Because of driving in from the exits, if you drove from one mountain directly to the other it would take about one hour and 10 minutes.

. of course, i still love those lift lines!

Then you have got to ski Gore after a dump. I'm tellin you you will be pleased. They have 3 great ones.

the upper part under the gondola looks sick, but will probably result in you getting your ticket pulled...

When there is alot of fresh snow, Gore's Upper Darby and twister glade are my favorite. I dont know if any of you have been to Royal moutanin (caroga lake, NY), but i love the whole freaking place. Its tiny(500Ft Vert) But it's loaded with fun and super laid back. I learned to board there, got big air there and skied glades first there. Little secrets are everywhere and where else can you drink with the owner in the "bar" I use that liberally becasue its more like a counter with a tv and 3 locals sitting there and their beer comes from the local grocery store

Paradise at Sugarbush, because the main trail is a lot of fun, and then there are the woods off to the skier's left that add some variety. I like everything off the single at MRG, but haven't been there enough times to develop a favorite..perhaps Fall Line if I were forced to choose now.

#1 fav is Superstar, then Ovation & Cascade, Cruise Control, Needles, Vertigo, North Star, and Bunny Buster at Killington (really too many to mention).

Other'n Northstar, those are some of my least favorite trails at Kmart. Killington has lots o' natural snow trails that are classic New England twisty-windy. The trees are also thinned out enough that you can pretty much ski boundary to boundary. Sticking to the on-the-map terrain: Squeeze Play, Catwalk, Escapade, Flume, Vagabond, Northstar, Low Rider, Great Bear, Breakaway (the name of my boat), Jug, Jug Handle, Roundabout. You can ski Kmart all day and never see snowmaking or groomed trails other than connecting trails.

I guess my all-time favorite trail is Shadows at Steamboat on a powder day. There's something about floating through aspen glades that's almost a religeous experience.
