Favorite surface lift?

In the east the Poma at the top of Pico. I believe that was the steepest surface lift I ever rode.

Poma now? I believe it was a bar.

I remember as a kid it picked me right off the ground and spun me around once when I rode it solo.

Breck's got a great t-bar. Takes you to above tree line. Into the high 'alpine zone'.





But Crested Butte has two of the best.

burke's poma it's a classic and it's already been mentioned but it's easily one of my favorite lifts of all time

I always loved the Pomas at Aspen Highlands. One skied down a ramp through a wand which released the Poma and then was sling shot up the mountain.

As a kid I loved that Poma and doing laps on Upper Giant Killer. Sadly it is no longer.

The upper mountain poma at the re-opening this year Hickory Ski area in NY. That sucker absolutely launched even 200+lb me and it served some really cool natural snow, mad river-esque terrain!

We have family with a place near there, so I think we may check it out. Sounds like a cool place.

I grew up skiing on a Poma with a toothless liftie. I was scared of the steep stretch of the poma ride, but it definitely stirs up the nostalgia.

I think my favorite was the #4 T-bar at Sugarloaf (Where wiffletree is now) . When that side of the mountain was opened I loved the trails.

I first learned to ski at Sugarloaf when it had 5 t-bars as the lifts. The late gondola arrived a few years later.

Probably the only one really worth riding for me on a board was the one that brings you to the back bowls at Copper.

Ahhh. Memories. I grew up at Timber Hill in the Poc's, two t-bars and a poma before they put chairs in. In the spring when we were bored we would lay down and do t-bar ballet. It was also fun where you could load up the spring and get launched. Hickory Hill is another area that has just surface lifts.

Picos poma was also a wild one, it was like getting pulled up a wall.

Another vote for Breck. Accesses some great terrain and when I was there, incl. a powder day, the lines were non-existent, esp. compared to some other lifts.

I have 2 favorites. The first is the poma that takes you up the the top few hundred vertical feet of Copper Mtn. in CO. Before they installed that lift you had to hike to access the goods.

Yes! Exactlly the one I was going to say! I remember standing at the top of that vert looking down and getting vertigo it was so steep. So much fun!
