I guess that you are right, I have only been to Windham three times and hated all three times, so I do not have recent ski experiences there.

I was just kidding.. I've never even been to Okemo....

For my money - it's always Hunter.. Plattekill on a POW day - Bellayre late season - Wndham maybe for some tele turns at night..
But Hunter is the place i want to be...and it's all because of the terrain and snowmaking..
And the cool people I've met and ride with...

I ride with a big group of older freeriders... And we love it!!

People complain about the park - I think it's better this year - but i generally don't hit the park until late in the season... So I really don't know...

I dont spend much time in the park really. Id much rather find some sweet natural hits in the woods or on the side of a trail as opposed to the manmade jumps. How are the steeps at Hunter?

Latest report from Killington:

Resort News: We received 3" of new snow Wednesday and as of 3:30 PM it continues to flurry outside. Scattered snow showers are in the forecast for Wednesday night...

With the return of colder temperatures, the largest snowmaking system in the world has been fired up. Mountain Ops is covering Snowshed, Snowdon and Killington Peak with the white stuff and they plan to expand into other areas on the mountain Thursday.

Belleayre on Sunday, Hunter on Monday. This is the plan. Unless Platapuss gets the goods. Hunter should be all moguled up for their mogul school.

This is the most likely scenario. No resort is going to try to open or re-open new terrain. And not much snow will be blown, just some to cover bare patches in key areas.

Alot of resorts will simply farm the remaining snow, pushing snow from closed trails onto areas that need it to stay open.

Most of the snowmaking talk is just marketing hype to keep folks interested in skiing. The hardcores will be out there skiing no matter what...the rest of the crowd is already thinking about golf.

Nothing would please this skier more than to watch a bunch of golfers flee from the golf course in the face of a full blown blizzard.

And that goes double for every winter-hater who feels it's necessary to come in my office to boast about all the lovely warm weather we've had.

Yeah, I guess killingtons marketing department had to be overstating things a bit, Sugarbush has fired up their guns in a few spots, where the winds tore things up, though most places have some kind of decent base now from snowmaking, except MRG, but they only have 1 snowgun.

Thin cover can be awsome, When a windy green goes hardpack with green spots, it suddently becomes more challgenging than alot of normily expert terrian with optimal snow conditions. When that expert terrain gets sketchy, well we all know what thats like

Golf is a fine sport, but that can wait untill jully or august. as far as a late spring (or even early summer) blizzard. BRING IT ON :smash:

I hate it when winter haters complain that they can't work when it snows. Just ask ski resort employee, local who tunes ski's etc... What they think of having to find a sumer job when all the snow melts early.

The only thing open on the West side is Clairs run which is pretty steep and very long. On a good day you could spend a lot of time back there. It can get very icy though. On the front side Racers edge is the steepest followed by Eisenhower, both aren't crazy steep and racers has some good moguls once in a while. Lower K-22 is the steep one, short, huge moguls and at 38 degrees at the top, pretty scary when icy. I'm still waiting to jump in it. Good in the spring . Hunter is by far the steepest mountain in the Catskills.
