I think it always comes down to what we call open. Woodbury just does not count with the 100 ft patch, nor does Bw with the beginner lift. IMO.

I think it will be between k and BW And Sr. Getting off the fence say K Nov 9 with SR at the same time. Sr late afternoon opening K all day. Bw on the 10th of Nov

Ahhhh Woodbury. My in-laws live 5 minutes from that place and I still haven't been there. Has anyone skied it? How is the terrain? The view from the road doesn't get me excited.

My vote is for K-Mart. After losing the title of last to close this past season they need some good PR.

I agree....K-mart needs the "good press" of first to open...so my votes going to the big boys at Killington..

I say Okemo opens November 10th, Killington November 11th. There was one day last year in November where Okemo was making snow all day and Killington said it was "too warm". Needless to say, Okemo beat them.

I think Killington is going to be on an austerity budget. Energy costs are going to soar so they won't make snow until they're pretty sure that it won't melt a few days later. I think they'll gear up for having terrain online for Thanksgiving. They'll open the weekend of November 11th only if the long term forecast doesn't have a thaw predicted. If November is abnormally cold or if they see natural snow, they very well could open earlier.

It also depends on wht your def. of open is. "Top to bottom?" Or "download" open?" First to open and stay open?

Last year I think we saw a dramatic shift in K philosophy. They should have been open Oct 26th. They should have been open Oct 27th. In years past they would have.

THEY WERE open those days.....

Granted that it was only for the record snowfall, but I think we must remember that they DID open thanks to demand.

Killington is ALWAYS open first. They put down a thin stripe of snow, say they're open, then it rains for a week and wipes it out.

wildact got some good press last year so hopefully ikf we get early snow again they will make it a tradition. Only this year I hope the Summit HSQ is ready to go. Although it was fun to skin to the summit and have the trails to myself.

Not true. The test patch is never an official opening.
