I dunno, things are pretty strict nowadays with reputable corporations. Unless you check that box that says "I want to receive news and blah blah blah" they shouldn't be spamming you.

I wouldn't have as much faith for small companies but big companies can't afford to get labeled as e-mail spammers. That said, they probably still do build an internal database. But they can't just pester you with emails if you don't explicitely sign up (although to be fair, I didn't read all the T&C, there may be something in there that you agree to get email).
