There is no doubt that these more direct environmental clean up efforts make life more pleasant for the residents who live in those areas. And they eliminate true environmental hazards (oil spills, toxic waste, organic pollution from fertilizer). And it makes sense to use less fossil fuels because it's a limited and increasingly expensive resource.

I conserve as much as possible. But I don't fool myself into thinking my efforts or humanity's efforts as a whole are going to impact global climate. Consider that 1 good volcanic eruption will spew more CO2 into the environment than years of clean up efforts would remove and you must see the futility of thinking we can control these things.

Some things we can't control - some we can...

there simply is no scientific proof that the warming trends we are now experiencing wouldn't have happened anyway. A single volcanic erruption puts out a whole hell of a lot of pollution and Ma Natch has been able to recover from those for billions of years...

go ahead - take that risk... It's your kids, kids that will pay for the mistakes of the conservative dogma... Save a corporation... Who cares about trees and floods...

I will say though that if we turned off all the ozone depleting machinery we have tomorrow it would only slightly slow the "global warming" its CYCLICAL......

I think we differ in the sense that you believe that human activity has a great impact on Earth's climate and that activity is a main contributor to global warming.

I do not believe that. I believe that in one massive shrug(cataclysm), the Earth could sweep every human off of it's face whether we try to prevent that or not. It's just not up to us.

But that does not mean I support ruining the Earth.

Is anyone so ignorant as to believe that one's commitment to a clean environment is based on political affiliation? Does anyone think that conservatives or liberals will be saved if there is a climatological catastrophe?

If anyone believes that then they've bought right into the brainwashing and political gruel that these politicos would have you swallow.

Even when we discuss a topic as important as this we have to stab each other with political barbs. The world won't improve based on a political agenda...it will improve through cooperation, something that politics discourages.
