It is 12:08 pm and it is snowing hard in Central Vermont right now. Keep your fingers crossed....

12:35 and it has been snowing steadily here for over an hour. About an inch on the ground. Wet snow. Better than the alternative.

Hmmm...am I allowed to say the R word on this board? It's been Ring in Burlington for over an hour now. :(
I believe the appropriate term here is NCP (non-crystalline precipitation)...any way you say it, it stinks. :p

I was planning a trip to Jay next weekend, but I held off on reservations because of the weather forecast. Of course, it looks like the weather idiots were right on this one.

My Jay plans might just get washed down the drain by Monday. Not going to drive 6 1/2 hours for rotten or flash frozen crap in the woods.

It's official in my book...this season just plain sucks.

Whiteface is supposed to be mid 40's with rain almost everyday for the next week. THAT does not look good to extending the season into april. The base is only half what it was last year. Bummer

But it's the only one we have JiminyG., so we have no choice, we just have to make the best of it.

Yup, and I have made the best of it so far. But I was really up for another trip north, especially after the dump they got last week. I'd still go even with no new snow if the temps stayed cold up at Jay. But the warmth and rain will be heading up that way too.

So it looks more and more like a wash. BTW, my other choice was Whiteface for next weekend, but Jay /Stowe got the snow last week and WF didn't. Apparently that isn't going to matter.

But new plans are hatching as we speak! My kids are off the week before Easter and I'm thinking of taking that week off and spending the time up at Mt. Washington. Maybe a few days of hiking for turns mixed in with a day or two of lift serviced at Wildcat.

Sooner or later the weather gods are going to cut me a break, and some nice 60 degree hiking/skiing weather at Tucks/GOS/Great Gulf would make up for alot.

keep us posted jim! i am sure to be over there a lot next month once everything else starts closing down and my arm can support touring no guarantee on what i'll feel comfortable on, but at the least i will be earning turns somehow. don't give up on jay quite yet either! they just need a quick shot of fresh snow to recover from a little rain.

2" this afternoon but change over has begun. all rain from here on out.
