Yeah, I hear ya. I'm sure The Creek blows away almost any western conditions.

Nah creek is horrible, I've ranted about them to no end around here.

The only snow condition I really don't like at all is powder, which is basically all you get out west. I'd rather go to a place like Killington if I wanted to go to a western-sized resort, instead of spending the money to fly out west for powder skiing.

Your reply really shows that you have not been there. True, there are weeks that I have been there when you ski alot of powder. But there have been plenty of weeks that I've been there when no new snow fell. Just like here in the east they do groom many runs. The snow quality is just better out there. Packed powder is better with a much better feel under the ski. The verticals in general are bigger. The lack of humidity makes the air feel warmer and therefore one is more comfortable then you are in the east. As far as powder goes, don't mock what you haven't tried. The snow is generally much drier and much easier to ski then the wetter heavy snow we get on the east coast. I would really reconsider your opinion and take the next opportunity you get to go out there. If your a ski nut you will not regret it.

Most of the time out west it's not powder..it's usually chalky hardpack which skis great, spring snow or packed/tracked powder..untracked powder only happens during and immediately after storms unless you know secret stashes..some racer guys don't care for powder..different strokes for different folks..

i can ski 100+ days at belleayre or a 2 week trip someplace else.
What would you do?
I understand. I'm struggling with that myself right now in considering a trip in the spring back to A-basin. We don't really have any money to spend and it would go so much further here.

1998-1999: Whistler twice, Monashee Powder Adventures, Deer Valley, The Canyons, Alta, Steamboat, Squaw, Heavenly (I had 40-something days in the west that year)
1997-1998: Deer Valley, Whistler (exploded my left shoulder)
1996-1997: Snowmass, Whistler
1995-1996: Snowmass, Whistler

My sister moved to Vancouver in 1986 so that's when I first started skiing Whistler regularly. My mom started wintering at Snowmass in 1990 and then moved to Park City in 1997.
