Heat!

The heat is on. Unfortunately, I can't stand the heat. It's already 100 degrees in the sun on my sister's pool deck(9:30 am). I will probably spend a good part of the day either in the car, in an air conditioned Mall or in the pool.

The other day I had a negative reaction to a new medication my doctor put me on and I just got out of the hospital. That reaction caused an irregularity in my heart rate. I am off the med now, but there is still a trace of it in my system so I still don't feel that great. I'm sure the heat is not going to help me as it effected me before I went into the hospital, and it really wasn't that hot out.

I'm with you, if the temperature never got above 60 degrees all year it would be fine with me. I feel lethargic in this weather, I have to push myself to get things done.

while i much prefer the cold, it is more the dew point, humidity, and general nastiness of this time of year in new england that iritates my body. one of the things i miss most about living near the coast is that northeastern VT is rediculously land locked and has no ocean breeze unlike northeastern MA. but you gotta take the good and the bad, this is the price we all pay for cold and snowy winters.

I thought it was pretty nice today. Got to the low 90's, but the humidity wasn't that bad. I worked in the yard a good part of today. Sweaty for sure, but not too uncomfortable. The point is, it could be a lot worse. It's July after all, folks...

It's just a small dinghy, 14 foot, mainsail only, but comfortable with two people. Three would be a bit crowded. So I'll steal your wife and maybe you can take pictures from shore or something

No, the boat has to be registered if you're leaving it in the water somewhere though.

Not sure about the rules where you are, but here is what the CT DEP has to say about it:

Any vessel with any size motor is required to be registered and numbered before entering Connecticut waters. Also, any sailboat over 19.5 feet powered by sail alone is required to be registered and numbered before entering Connecticut waters. In order to operate that vessel, you must possess a Safe Boating Certificate.

The Safe Boating Certificate is basically a license..

Broke down and bought a second window unit for our apartment yesterday. 8000 BTU for $160 at Stop and Shop. Couldn't beat the deal, hope it beats the heat.

I want one of those, too, Marc, but I can't think of a place to keep it in the middle of Boston. How much do those things weigh? I think it'd be fun to hitch the trailer to the back of a bike and peddle it through Boston to the river. And by "fun" I mean tedious, tiring, and difficult, but the looks would be great.

Well, there you go. I thought about getting my cert. but then when I was told I didn't need it, I said, f that. I'd like to tool around in the least safe manner as possible.

No, only to kill gophers.

I'd like to kill the weatherman. Too damned hot. Spent Saturday at a buddy's house on Kirk Lake near Lake Mahopac. The family was in the water most of the day. Still, very hot and uncomfortable.

Spent yesterday doing yardwork and mowing the grass. Must've sweated off about 5 pounds. The dog days of summer.

Like Greg I didn't find the weather too bad over the weekend. Sure it got up into the 90's, but I didn't think the humidity was too bad and there was a nice breeze blowing through where we were. I went for a mountain bike ride in the late morning that wasn't too bad either...
