no- Killington. I gotta save room for the free apres wings. :p
If I must buy something, the $3 baked potato loaded with free butter and sour cream usually will suffice.

I have a pass at Wachusett. Once in a while I'll grab a burger and a fountain drink, but that's rare. Usually when I ski there I'm just going for a few hours, so I eat before I go and I eat when I get home. If I need to fuel up, I'll get the one ski area food item I'm always willing to pay for, a waffle from the waffle hut (but no, I don't waste money on the chocolate drizzle!)

Also, a good note for all you Wa skiers - soda and gatorade is cheaper at the waffle hut than it is inside in the cafeteria or from the machines, so it's better if you're thirsty to hit the hut.

I would say out of the 20 ski days I had at Wa this season, I probably had 4 burgers and 10 waffles.

The only time I will have a real meal at a ski area (real meal defined as a complete meal including a starch, i.e. chicken tenders, fries, and a drink - not just a quick burger eaten as I walk to the lift) is if I've gotten my lift ticket free or significantly discounted. We got a bunch of free lift tickets from the boston ski expo, and I made sure that I bought food at every mountain we went to. I mean, if I'm going to ski for free, I'd like the mountain to get *something* out of it. Spending $20 on lunch is better than spending $70 on lift tickets, and I figure the mountain probably makes about the same amount of profit either way.

quit being a troll

Hello Kettle, I'm the pot. Guess what Kettle? You're black.

Actually the above is not entirely correct as that would insinuate that HPD is a troll, which he is certainly not.

...and I have no interest in meeting/skiing with you..get a life

Can't you just admit you were being abrasive and apologize for once? Your immaturity is not cute or even mildly amusing. It's exasperating, to say the least.

That's an amazing number of passes. All in the same season? How many days did you go?

Yes these passes are all for this season, although they are all college passes. I've gotten 30 days so far, and I'm hoping to get one maybe two more days in. Cumulative total price for these was around $700 for all, but with the amount of times that I've gone to these places and the amount of runs I have taken have pretty much paid for the price of each pass.

I have a pass for Cannon, and I do buy lunch there. My other passes include Loon and the SR/Sugarloaf, and I generally don'y buy lunch at those places because for Loon my house is two minutes down the road, and for SR I need to save room for Bob's Southern Style BBQ stand!!

I do not have a season pass anywhere this year but even if I did, my answer would not change. I do NOT buy lunch at the mountain but that's mostly because I'm usually buying for at least 2-5 others (2-4 of my children plus my wife at times). I still DO end up buying food at the mountain as my children like to supplement what we bring with an order of fries here & there plus maybe a cookie for dessert.

When I had a season pass at Sugarbush, I still brown bagged most every day. Mostly a pure economic/financial decision in my situation.

A 2006-07 NSAA research report indicates:
- Target Market are those skiers and boarders with income above $30K, nearly 50% have incomes above $100K
- nearly 50% of all skiers/boarders pay FULL PRICE for lift tickets.
- 31% have a season pass
- older skiers/boarders are being retained at a higher rate than ever before.
- 53% of all visits are families, typically a high-income group.

This all suggests to me that the "average" skier, and at least a good chunk of the season passholders can certainly afford to pay these prices. Whether they do or not, may, as one writer suggest come down to the quality and offerings. I for one have started a slow move towards the full service restaurants in the lodge, where in the past I never considered them.

Another seemingly bizzarre (to me) trend is that 80% of all skiers fit into the "core" group. Of those, only half are there to ski, the remainder are there for "social reasons". (B. Tabert)

It may not be a good chunk of the season pass holders, just that a small percentage that ski a lot show up as 30% of the sales. I'd guess 5 average skiers=1 season pass holder.
