My Wife and I Mountain Bike, Hike, Camp, and Boulder to train. Biking thru some narrow single track keeps us on our toes for when we're hitting our favorite woods stashes on skiis!

"and Boulder" ?

Bouldering, its a form of rock climbing when one climbs up/on/around a smallish rock (10-20 feet or so) with no rope for training.. I know that didn't explain it too well, so basically its like rock climbing, but on a smaller and cheaper scale, and quite challenging.

How do I deal?

I am working on my opening day fitness. I have returned to a regular 2 days on 1 day off pattern of workouts (including my Skier" Edge Machine). I pause to stare at my skis each time I go to the basement. I check the ads for "gear" sales. I have $100 worth of store discount credits from buying myself and my daughter new skis last season. I have decided I want a new "back-pack style" ski/boot bag like I bought my daughter. And, I have started re-establishing contact with my circle of potential mid-week trip buddies. Besides that, I drink a lot to keep from going crazy while I wait! Just kidding. PM me if you live on LI and are interested in possible mid-week ride-sharing.

i don't deal very well, that's for sure! mostly, i climb my favorite hills, watch ski porn, hit refresh a lot on forums, read ski news, review and browse cheap gear, and occasionally write some skiing thoughts out. most recently i've been heavily redesigning my web page which has been taken up a huge amount of time. layout and style is completed, but now it's time to convert the content. finally slipping into the wonderful world of CSS, w00t. so this all means that i have been looking at my old ski pics :D i am doing a lot of other things to during the summer, but those are generally the things i do specifically to 'deal' with withdrawal. i am pretty calm now though, i know it's close and i am content to wait for it now that the long wait is over.

Endless Winter was on INHD last night!

Yeah, a ton of Warren Miller films have been on that channel. I love it! Even though I don't have a high-def TV, I watch the high-def channels for widscreen presentations and sometimes Dolby Digital 5.1 sound.

Bouldering is actually scoring multiple rides on the Boulder Dash Mountain Coaster at Lake Compounce in Bristol, CT, one of the top wooden roller coasters in the world. October is the only time to score late-night rides, as the park is open 'til 11 on Fridays and Saturdays, and 10 on Sundays. It's the only coaster installed into the side of a mountain and it's pure speed and power. Riding at night is a true joy that will adjust your attitude in 2 minutes.

Dealing with it less well every day.

Just saw the front page of AZ...Member Photo section...Skiing Sundown. A quick look got me thinking it was the Sundowner Slope @ Wachusett...lake in the background...familiar lodge at the bottom.

BUT NO! I click on the photo and see an island in the lake...and the wrong lodge...and my bubble is burts.

Definitely....Jonezen!

That 11/11 trip to K-Mart is sounding like a Morale Imperrative more and more every day.

A little off topic, but did you get in touch with Keith at The Pro? I know you're looking for a good bootfitting...wait until after the ski patrol refresher weekend (10/15-16) to make an appointment and try to get there very early AM, 8:00 if possible. That's the best time and Keith can relax and take his time with you.

He's a busy man.

....

1) Paddling/Creeking [with some hiking],
....Some hiking has fit in as I've been "scouting"..areas I've looked at on both DeLorme Topo SW and/or Maine Atlas...

2) Yahd work
3) ski porn
4) ww porn

5) Begins with A QUESTION!...is anyone performing 100% of the work (prep/wax/sharpen/bevel) on their own skis?
...and if so, (of course, there's the knowledge of the work actually done/satisfaction) any $$$ saved???

The rain is really putting a damper on my previously mentioned activities...

I've resorted to watching Schooled and Epoch over and over until a light glaze forms over my half opened eyes, a puddle of drool forms on my chest, and flies start landing unchallenged around my face.

Proud moments.

Perhaps I'll film myself doing it all... release it as "Fear and Jonesing in Las Woodstock."
