How? I was at Belleayre on Sunday and there was a time around Noon that they kept on stopping the quad. It was really annoying as this was probably the most crowded I've ever seen the place (no lines on Dot Nebel since you had to hike or shuttle to the lift, FYI). They also seem to take forever to restart the thing - not sure what's going on there. Either someone was falling off at the bottom or there was some unseen carnage at the top. They have people directing you off at the top and a decent size crew at the bottom that helps with the little skiers. The lift picks you up and drops you off very slowly. So how???

Can't answer specifically about Bellayre, but it's pretty common for folks to fall when exiting. Happens often when the unloading zone gets icy and they need to shovel some fluffy stuff atop. It's not very common to "fall off" a chair, since most people don't begin to move until their skis/boards are on terra firma. Happens a lot when on any chair that has a lot of beginner passengers.

I've seen someone get knocked over by a HSQ at Snow while loading. He wasn't paying attention and was over too far to the side...

The belleayre HSQ is actually harder to get off than others- It goes SOOOOOOO slow at the end that you really have to stand yourself up and not use the chair at all. I could see some people falling.

I find that true of any HSQ that I've ridden. I thought maybe I just wasn't used to it. I like disembarking from FG chairs better since they give you a little push to get going.. ;)

I'll tell you how... have a knee brace that prevents maximum flexure when sitting down & the lift is low to the ground. Happened to me for the first time at Alta last week - felt like a real gaper! One tip if it happens to you: KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN!! My first instinct was to sit up - resist the urge!

Yeah, on Sunday the Superchief wasn't running that well, it kept stopping- and on the most crowded day of the year. I watched many people fall trying to get on. I agree though, when they first put it in, getting off the lift took some getting used to, as it slows down quite a bit. Some people get off real early, some people wait until it starts to "turn around", and some people get off sometime in between that. That can be bad, as I've seen people catch the end of other people's skis and stuff like that. Personally, I wait until everyone else on the lift is gone, and right before it "turns around", I hop off to a clear unloading area.
