I usually go by the situation

Half Day - Mt Sunapee.
Crowded weekend (any conditions) Sunday River
Crowded weekend (good conditions only) Burke
Timeshare every 4th week Okemo
multi day trips Jay
spring mandatory trips Wildcat & Sugarloaf

I checked out TheSnowWay.com. Very well done.

the home mtn is a given...inertia at this point, friends, tradition, location...even though we've moved and added 2 hrs to the previously 1/2 hr drive (still have a place to stay 35 min away from SR) Pretty safe bet for decent skiing.
Work picks the other mtns for me...utah, co, idaho...and michigan last winter.

Last ski vacation we picked utah...snow, terrain, conditions, access to bc, easy to get to, lots of housing options...we're due for someplace we haven't been yet...Pac NWestern US maybe...also has tons of snow, great terrain

I would have to say price and travel time, then conditions. Basically I ski where I have passes to. Then it depends on how much time I have, and then I will go where I think the conditions will be best and other people that I like to ski with are going.

How do you prioritize when you decide where you ski?

Is it?

Ticket Price
Terrain
Snow conditions
Travel Time - Distance
Lifts
Crowds, as in lack of
Lodging
Size, as in number of trails, vert, acres

All the above, order would depend on life conditions and my mood, Took out park
(couldn't care less), apres (I'm there to ski), and family stuff(it's only me and my wife)

....well, let's see...

..of course, gas prices have simplified the matter...but nothing's changed the top 2.

1) Terrain
2) Distance To = Gas Expense = My present day ability to make 1st chair(ie...Best snow)
3) Visit another Mtn = Variety

For local skiing, its distance and season pass price that drives my decision.
For Ski Trips:
Its Snow conditions, Bear/Diva Gatherings, and Flight options.
