Anyone hear the Artie Lange blow-up this morning on the Howard Stern Show? Hard to tell if it was real or scripted. They are all on vacation next week and this could have been a well-written cliff-hanger. Pretty interesting radio anyway.

I only catch the earlier part of the show on the drive in. I usually catch the end during the afternoon replay. What was it about? High Pitch Mike? People riding him about his weight? I don't think they script anything like that.

He lashed out at his assistant Teddy about how incompetent he is. It then escalated to something about Artie "loaning" Teddy all this money that he'll never see repaid. It then got to the point where Artie hummed something at him and then tried to hit him. A bunch of people in the studio were holding him back. Sounded real. Artie then accused Howard of egging him on and hoping for this. Howard seemed bummed it happened. Then Artie said he had to go, sort of pseudo-resigned and left the show.

Something has been really wrong with him lately. He's had quite a mean streak. More than the usual jibbing...he's hitting below the belt consistently. I have a feeling he's fallen off the wagon.

That was GREAT stuff! I was driving to a lecture yesterday and was able to listen to most of the show(as opposed to the 10 minutes I usually get after dropping my kids off before I get to the office). They finished the interview with Joan Rivers, did some B.S. ing with Tim Sabian about Riley Martin's "contract" and then it was Arie going to sleep. The rest of the show, as Howard was going on was great with the Artie snore/sleep breathing in the background of the broadcast and then him getting ragged on during the wrap up show.

My guess is Artie gets on the plane to Amsterdam tommorrow, has some fun over there, spends a bunch of $$ on the vices of Amsterdam and 10 days from now its all water under the bridge!

Howard Stern Jumped The Shark, about 5 years ago. Used to be a big fan, now haven't heard him in a few years.

Well, if you don't have Sirius, then you wouldn't have heard him in a few years. The show is pretty wild now. His last few years on terrestrial radio was lame, mostly due to the bitching about things they couldn't say. Since his move to satellite it's actually pretty entertaining again.

Stopped listening to him long before the Sirius move. Started listening to him when he first came on NBC in NY. Just got tire of his constant "King of All Media" , innovator, know it all crap. What really turned me off to him was when he censored Opie and Anthony so that they couldn't discuss him. Here he was always crying about censorship and he stops someone else from talkin about him. Funny thing is, they weren't saying anything bad about him. If anything, they praised him for his inspriration.

Thats all for ratings... Fights make listeners...

When I go at it with SShortski or you go at it with Pedro(and his aliases) on KMart chat the views skyrocket...

Maybe, but it just rubbed me the wrong way.

You think Pedro has aliases? :-?

Oh, I'd say you and me caused a few views as well

True... But we ended up cool with each other after sparing. At least I think so...

That blow up was definitely not scripted. Artie is in serious danger of losing his job, I bet. His blow up with Sal wasn't very long ago. HR at Sirius has a decision to make. He works for them, not Howard.

I think he saw what great career move it was for Jackie something or the other and figured, he'd follow

I was just on JFSC and they were saying that the Stern Fan Network forums are off line and there is no mention of todays show on Howard's website. There is no replay either.
