Anyone been to STRATTON lately?
For all the dissing we give it, I've got a free voucher from the early season giveaway game. It's tempting me to go midweek. I went to Stratton last year with a discount ticket midweek last year and really enjoyed the mountain and trail (it was mostly devoid of the regulars which explains a lot....)

I had a really good time when I went a couple weeks ago. Totally empty, good service, well maintained.
How can you bi+ch about a free ticket? The one thing I did learn was to pack a lunch when I go there, the food was very expensive.
Go, enjoy, have fun. It won't cost you a thing..... except gas.

I diff.....how's that saying go???
"a bad day's skiing beats a good day at work"
or something like that....

A bad day of skiing takes up vacation days that i could be using for an epic day of skiing...

Sorry... just never been a fan of that whole paradigm...

Belleayre season passholders can bring a freind to ski for free for a day between Feb. 5th and 11th. If you're a midweek passholder, it's Feb. 5th- 9th. If the person you bring signs up for a season pass next year, you get $50 off YOUR next season pass. More info at the events page at Belleayre: LINKY. It's called "Share the Love" on the events page.

At this point I've crossed the line. No can do outside of the NE this season, so I'd rather grab what I can now than wait for something which may not come. I sure hope I'm wrong and you're right!

Well, I can't dis the place. I go mid-week, I leave beer in the patrol fridge. I'm treated like family. I don't buy food, or anything else there. I get the best advise on the terrain (yes, I know it's the "House of Blues", but you can have some fun there.

word. what's worse than a free lift ticket on a ski day that sucks? a paid lift ticket on a ski day that sucks. free lift ticket still costs gas and time better spent at better mountains. net gain and loss isn't just a monetary issue.

more power to you if you like stratton and enjoy your free ticket. honestly, i don't think stratton takes much of a beating. i think any one not fond of stratton lives by the mantra that "it is what it is." just isn't for me. honestly, i would suspect the average AZ poster would probably enjoy stratton.

Not the biggest fan of Stratton, but I don't hate it either. They do a decent job with snow, if I recall. Have a free rental house there this weekend, anyone have any reports on bumps?

I won a free ski day at Stratton and thought the mountain was a class act for offering the opportunity. I wouldn't pay full price to ski there, but for free it was for me. I thought they had a done a good job with snow making and had pushed to get some of their challenging terrain open. Yes, Stratton isn't Jackson Hole and I don't ski as well as Bode Miller either.

I'll guess it's just a matter of available opportunities. I know I have limited ski time, and I treasure every time I go. Some are better than others, but if I wait for 'epic conditions', the next thing I know I could be looking at April in the calendar and all the non-epic days are gone.
After the start of this season, I am just grateful to have a 30" man made base anywhere in the NE.
