They reported a 16" base last weekend, but were the 60s this week enough to trash it?

Some good info in this thread: http://community.sundayriver.com/forum/topics/lift-to-t2

Here's a current shot of the hill:

Not looking so COOL from that vantage point! I heard they only have one trail and one lift open but that it was a top to bottom. Even that doesn't look like the case from that phot.

Mom Nature is not helping us out at all. The humidity is going to be too high on Friday and Friday night to blow.

The lift that services that pod has a mid-station.

Last weekend they were open from the mid-station up. (Downloading on the lift to get you out of there).

Sat was just one trail, T2, (the prominent one to looker's left with some snow still on it), sunday there was another trail (Upper Sunday Punch) that is to looker's right of T2, but that looks mostly gone now (though it isn't as exposed to the camera as T2).

They haven't blown below the mid-station yet except for a blow for show a couple weeks back.

This weather truly stinks compared to the smiles everyone had on their faces last week!!! Thinking snow!!! 33 inches in Jackson hole in the past week!!!!!!!!! I was there in March and it hadn't snowed in a month. Just my luck.

It's all good... Winter's coming...

Temps look like they might be changing a bit next week...

Top to bottom next weekend would be nice... That's what I'm hoping for.

Doubt that I will head up this weekend. Although I am very tempted for next weekend if they can blow during the week.

It'll definately be a slow transition to some sort of snowmaking conditions the next day or two. Friday night is when it looks more favorable for at least summit snowmaking and perhaps some midslope/base snowmaking...web bulb temps look to be just barely into decent range for at least the summit. They may be able to keep some summit guns going during the day Saturday. (??) Not a bad chill stretch into early next week for mainly nighttime snowmaking.

As it seems like it happens most falls around the Northeast, what models suggest temps/conditions may be say 3 to 5 days out vs. what temps/conditions actually turn out to be end up being quite different. My rule of thumb tends to be in Oct/Nov/Dec is that by the time the "cold" air mass reaches New England, it will very often be 10 to 20% warmer than in the long range models, and when a "cold" weather mass is trying to displace a warm weather mass it will take atleast 12 hours longer than models suggest a few days before :( The way that air circulates around a low pressure system, combined with the direction that *most* lows arrive into the Northeast by, tends to send a re-enforcing warm/moist air blast out ahead of the front, and this time of year, that's still a pretty warm mass of air, and then the "cold" air behind the front just plain and simple usually isn't that cold this time of year either

Synopsis:

The weather models are not accurate enough to predict snowmaking temperature and humidity in marginal conditions where a couple of degrees or few percent humidity means everything.

There are plenty of times where they're wrong in the other direction about temperature and humidity.

Actually its closer to 4 feet now,

and you came just a little early. Over 13 feet during April last year.

That being said just landed in Beantown. Hoping to make some east coast turns this week.

Making the best of the situation. I received this from the folks who operate the SR Golf Course today:

With above-average November temperatures on the horizon, we've decided to make history: The 2010 Golf Season at Sunday River Golf Club will be extended through November 7th--at least. Not only will this be our latest closing ever, it puts the cap on our longest SEASON ever-- one that began on April 23rd.

Bring the boards and bring the sticks. Maybe a little ski and tee at SR.

Unfortunately, I have no pics, but I did have 2 AMAZING laps down Glory on my way to the airport on Tuesday.

Felt awesome after being laid up all last winter with the Achilles. Soon as I get back, its game on hopefully. Got a little warm up there yesterday I heard. 40 degrees plus at 10k.

They updated the snow report today with a "we still don't know." I'd still bet on them opening at least Sunday this weekend. If they do I'll be there.
