Greg old buddy, you might want to go back and reread my post. First I said you where a very solid skier, second its impressions AZers get from reading posts in here from Azersthey have never skied with.

I get it, tough guy. I was simply qualifying your impressions. ;)

I would judge myself to be a capable skier. However, I have never taken a lesson. I have only been skiing for 6 seasons and I am completely self taught.

Same boat. Started skiing at age 20 and still haven't taken a lesson. I technically have 13 seasons under my belt, but many of those were half dozen day seasons. I've only had 24+ days the past two season. Before that there were a few seasons around a dozen or less. It's all about the miles...

funny thing is, i am actually rather quiet in person.

This is true, but you still exude the same air of confidence you do in your online persona as well as your skiing. I would say that when meeting you in person and seeing you ski, there are very few surprises. That's a good thing.

As far as folks I've never skied with that I think can rip, I'd have to say loafer89 and Tin Woodsman. I've seen a brief video of him, but I think Marc probably skis far better than he lets on. For some reason, I peg Sky521as a very controlled and comfortable skier.

I've met Marc and although I enjoy busting his stones, he seems to be a good guy. Too bad he's from Connecticut.

Sky is a solid skier and one of the most fun people I know to ski with.

TrailBoss is a great skier too.

Having read through the love session in this thread I would much rather see an AZ Gaper list. I can make myself the first official member...

1. koreshot

(this is probably a futile attempt cause people on this forum are too friendly, respectful of others' feelings, etc to come out and call another member a gaper, but it sure would be funny)

I have to say that in all honesty, I've been pretty impressed with the skiing ability of all of the AZers I've met. I know that Beano and YSD at the time had only been skiing a season or two, but both were very good for only skiing a short time, and for starting out as adults. In both cases, I never felt slowed down, and even if I did feel compelled to step it down a notch, the great conversations on the left would more than have made up for it. I think that if you're passionate about the sport so much that you'd post on an online message board, as well as be willing to meet up with other AZers to ski, you probably can hold your own regardless of how long you've been skiing. No attitude here. I don't judge someone in person based on how they ski. If you're a cool person and can make it down a groomed black diamond or steeper blue in one piece, I'm cool with skiing with ya!

Does anyone think that Riverc0il kind of seems like he is floating when he skis. For someone who weighs in at over 200 pounds(i think:???:) he is super light on his feet, way lighter then all of my 135 pounds. I was just happy to be able to keep up. Lucky for me it was only his 2nd or 3rd day back from the injury or I would have got trashed.

For other skiers I haven't met:

Mattchuck: I think I saw a picture of you getting a ton of air at mammoth or something like that.

Deadheadskier: Some talk of going off a ski jump on normal skis.

Meat: I not sure why. He just should.

NHPH: Once again, I dunno.

DMC: because he talks of skiing the headwall or the lip scares the crap out of me.

Ga2ski: I don't know why but I'm willing to bet he is one of the best skiers on this board.

JD: Because he has spatulas on the ice coast. That must make him rad.

I thought I could be a really good gaper, I've had years of 'spurence. With all due respect to koreshot, of course, I might be the gapiest of the gapers and can say I have had nothing buy r-e-s-p-e-c-t in AZ.

I think I could do pretty well in a gaper contest myself...8)

Actually, based on the pictures and videos that I've seen, I figure that all of the regulars here are better than I am...given my limited time on the slopes, I can live with that...

I hope that one's ability doesn't keep them from joining up with other AZers though. At Hunter last year, we had eight people meet up, all of very different ability. We were able to ski together for the most part, some skied the bump course on Eisenhower; others skied the groomed section on Ike. A few of us skied Claire's, while others skied Way Out. We always were able to ride the lifts together. It really helped to have someone like JimG. who knows the mountain well and can send folks in different directions based on ability, yet still be able to meet up at the lift or a trail merge. So, again, I would encourage anyone that can handle a groomed black diamond to feel fine with meeting up other AZers of possibly higher skiing ability. I love skiing with skiers better than me. It drives me to ski well and improve.

I'm staying out of this one. However Jim is a great skiier (who will now vouge for me)

Ya, Drew can rip too. And we skiied on a blue ice day, nothing but ice bumps and ice sheets. POW is nice, but ice separates the men from the boys (I love that new Sonic commercial).

Yup. That's a result of a super quiet upper body.

Ah yes. I should have included ga2 in my list. I'm sure he rips.

I wouldn't worry too much about that...I've never had an impression of "exclusivity" here...

I still primarily use the snowplow to stop. Will that "bother" anyone? I know its kinda gaper, but I can't parallel stop...

Brief? I was the focus of like, 4 out of the 5 sequences in that film. I think it was only because Andyzee liked filming my ass, as is evidence by that picture he took.

But no, don't go spreading any rumors. I'm coordinated like brown shoes with a tuxedo.

Phir's just sucking up because he's afraid I'm going to push him off the lift at Wachusett this winter for trying to put up those stupid stickers on the lift poles.
