well, when hype comes true, what do you call it?

Regardless of anything else, I PREDICTED this storm would be huge at least a day before people started catching on

If they are open, I will get up there, ski, take pics, and post a very detailed report
Throw enough darts and your chances of hitting the cork are pretty good... Just kidding (kinda). ;)

Anyway, looking forward to the report!

What do you want a medal or something?

If it comes true we'll call it Joshua day in honor of you and your greatness

I actually kinda do want a medal, now that you mention, just because I like medals. And chicks dig 'em.

If they announce they're opening this weekend I'll be up there for it, but even I am not that foolishly optimistic. As I said on another thread:

I'm not a big fan of the rumor mill. When I see on their website an announcement to open, or an official statement from them posted by Greg on this website, then I will believe it.

"Just got off the phone with Tom up at the Big K - where they are batting around the possibility, THE POSSIBILITY, of opening Killington top-to-bottom this weekend. You should get the latest at www.killington.com.

Thanks dog! The temperature moderation next week is a real problem.

I'd tend to agree, but rarely have I seen long range reports (anything much longer than a few days at best) be correct, even when it comes to temps.

I also wonder, especially with places like Killington, if weatherunderground doesnt get those stats from more like the Rutland area, and we all know the weather down there is night and day compared to even the base of kmart. I know like the weather channel and accuweather.com, etc. mostly use Rutland weather stations.

Only time will really tell, im sure the powers that be in ASC are better at perdicting the weather since their livleyhood directly depends on it pretty much..

We won't hear anything else until tomorrow. They are going to work on the surface today/tonight and will have a better handle on things tomorrow, including the longer range forecast. Snowmaking tonight is a strong possibility, but they need to work out some power issues. Stay tuned.

Here is a good photo from the The Rutland Herald illustrating what it looked like up on Route 4 over the pass. Not very good.

Copied from RSN

So is Killington. Worker skied yesterday in 24 down to about 6 inches at the base area. Today, report has it 18 + at the base and 2 to 3 feet going up to the peak.

Groomers are out packing it down in places and setting up snow guns for the night cold air. Rumor has a Thursday or Friday opening.

I've got official word that snowmaking will likely start tonight.

Yea?! :D
You rock Greg! Thanks for the news! I like the "will likely"..... sounds better than "might," "maybe," etc.
Well, to be fair, the word, "may" was used. But my inclination is the comment would not have been made at all if it wasn't "likely".

Still, I like the news! :D
Hmmm, now about Saturday. So tempting, so very tempting to drive up there.

Bummy, chances are we'll drive up Friday and come back Saturday if you want to hitch a ride. That is if they announce an opening ofcourse.

Might be a possibility. I have the clinic at Cury's Friday night tho. IF (and I know it's a slight "if") they announce an opening for Saturday then I'll go up Friday night, if they don't I may just go up early, early Saturday morning and hike for turns. After all I have the new knapsack to try out.

Anyone else planning to go up whether or not they open?

Hmmm... kinda makes me wish I had my winter tires now.

I suppose I'm going to have to order those soon...

I'll go Sat. if they run the lifts but I'm not hiking in my alpine boots unless it's late season and/or Tuck's...

If you can get yourself somewhere off the NY Truway, perhaps I (we) can work something out. Still not sure of my plans yet but if you'd like, PM me and we can perhaps work something out.

Heard from a fellow K-Zoner that Stormey posted pics. Can't see him here at work.
However, just made the plans..... leaving Friday night. :D Woot!!
Haven't even had my skis tuned yet. Guess I'll leave them up there for a tuning and pick them up in two weeks when I'm at our house. :D
