Guns are going at K's summit. The lower mountain is still too warm...

Doesn't look like we're going to hear anything about an opening today. They need 10 hours of snowmaking at the base of the mountain before they'll open. They will re-evaluate tomorrow.

From Mount Snow's Website

Official word from the Big K is “WE [Killington] PLAN ON OPENING AS SOON AS WE ARE ABLE TO PROVIDE A QUALTY TOP-TO-BOTTOM PRODUCT. AT THIS TIME WE ARE WAITING FOR OPTIMAL SNOWMAKING TEMPERATURES FOR PRODUCING MAN-MADE SNOW TO CREATE QUALITY CONDITIONS AT THE BASE OF THE MOUNTAIN.”

so, i guess it better get cold enough over night for 10 hours of snow making or not gonna happen

Yep. This is their canned response. They just didn't see the right conditions to blow snow on the lower mountain last night/today. Hopefully it will cool down enough tonight. Maybe Saturday...

they gotta be joking about the temp at the base area. NOAA says lows in the upper twenties the next two nights and that should be a forecast for the vallies. kbl is at a good elevation at the top of the access road and should be in snow making temp the next two evenings. i'd like to see the current temp reading at the kbl. worst case, they have enough cats to push their 2-3 feet of snow from upper elevation trails onto mouse trap and lower great northern

i can't wait to see wildcat beat kmart out. this is going to be something else. kmart would still claim "first top to bottom" what crap.

that would be the biggest freakin load of crap ever. Tomcat chair is 1,500 ft and that gondi at k-mart is 1,600 ft. And techniquely it isnt top to bottom either because there vertical is over 3,000 ft

you know austin, that is an INCREDIBLY good point i have never considered about kmart's claims. if they are going to claim 3000 verts, they really can't call k1 top to bottom skiing. well they can, they just aren't being completely honest.

I am totally with you there. This is huge for Wildcat. 1st in the East and what 3rd in the US or something like that (who can confirm this)? Amazing. This year will go down in the record books. Anyone know Wildcat's earliest opening and latest closing date?

opening not sure, closing... I think they stayed open into may before, but not sure. They must have though because wildcat always seems to stay open as long as possible. And ya they are the 3rd in the country
