I was just commenting that ckofer's comment was not applicable to many locations in New England as of this past weekend.

nor was your comment then as you were crying in your cereal when Jay got skunked and Stowe was picking up fantom 8" dumps that powderfreak was posting delicious TR's about

.....just sayin' ;)

Exactly how many places in New England had great conditions this past weekend? Most of what I'm reading and hearing first hand is groomed ice.

The Balsams was decent with deep powder on most of the mountain, but it was very cold and windy.

Sugarbush was in good shape this weekend. Plenty of powder in the woods, groomers had plenty of cover - would not call it groomed ice

It seems we're painfully stuck between the bliss of powder about three weeks ago and the corn snow that awaits. I've been reading the trip reports and it's a little discouraging.

It's like winter is make some desparate effort to linger but without sharing too much good snow. I took this pic today near Bow Lake in Strafford (not posed, just showed up from under a snowbank-it seems fitting):

Jeezum.

Hey, I know where that is, I drive by that every day. I hear you about purgatory though......although Cannon last weekend wasn't the greatest, we still made the best of it. Weather felt like the middle of winter, conditions were interesting to say the least. We would have thought that the conditions would have been a lot better because of the colder temps, but the rain hasn't helped much. It just felt good to be able to go skiing. We'll take what we can get and looks like the season isn't over yet.
