Also, just between us and the clock on the wall. There is a ton of f'd up stuff going on around the boarder. Drugs, human trafficking, turtle trafficking and the like. Not that long ago, falling ice and rock was a concern, now it's a whole new ball game. Friend has a place in Pittsburg, NH. A couple of years ago he wouldn't let his kids and their friends up there. Too much unknown???Yeah, but the point that Steve Wright was making was that there are a significant number of his Canadian customers who are not coming to Jay in protest of the direction of the U.S. The status of the Canadian economy and the CAD is not as relevant to this discussion because Jay charges at par IIRC. If anything, a part of the Canadian economy struggling is all of the trade war B.S. that Trump has started with one of our largest trading partners.
Additionally, I am hearing that Kingdom Trails traffic is WAY down due to a lack of Canadians. I talked to a guy from Whitefish, MT last week and he was also saying that their tourist business, which usually is Canadian traffic, is off.
Nah bro, all fake news from legacy media, even a ski industry publication is in on the conspiracy. Everything is beautiful, the USA is more respected now than at any time in history.![]()

Can you read?Translation: I was wrong but to much of a blowhard to admit it
Canadian exchange rate is still within the 70 to 80 cents range that it has been for the past decade.
Well my guess is the good Doctor and others who share his views, think Mr Wright is a liar like the legacy mainstream media. He and other businesses could produce the receipts (Steve pretty much did in that article) and they still wouldn't believe that US policy has that great of an impact on Canadian travel choices.
This.Whatever it truly is, this situation was entirely unnecessary and preventable.
I guess we will have to wait for some data. Whether it's in line with what Steve says, better or worse, everyone has to admit our tariffs and overall recent diplomacy with Canada certainly hasn't helped tourism businesses; especially the juvenile 51st state insult .
Of course this conversation really won't matter even when the data does come out. Some are always going to minimize the impact of tariffs and juvenile diplomacy. Some will conversely exaggerate those impacts. Whatever it truly is, this situation was entirely unnecessary and preventable.
