If so, we're heading up to Jay Friday night. Assuming, of course, there are any rooms available. Does Jay ever book up?[/quote]

I don't think everywhere gets totally booked up too often, some holidays and maybe a couple random weekends. this weekend could be busy though because good weekends this year have been few and far between, and it looks like southern areas haven't gotten any beneficial snow this week(so far). I would probably look into booking sooner than later, just to be safe and to have a bigger variety of Jay's fine hotels to choose from. good luck!

I think the large # of E-mails indicates their enthusiasm but also may indicate that this season has been slower than normal $$$ wise. They completely lost MLK weekend, which sux.

With all the bad publicity in the Burlington Free Press, re: golf course problems, and the bad weather, I'm sure that they are trying to put something good out there.

Jeebus. Just talked to reservations there- they have 1 hotel room available, for the low, low price of $425. A night.

I think we see how they're subsidizing the 2for1 deals.

Jay always amazes me with the snow they get. I was there the weekend after MLK weekend, the conditions were terrible, my skis took a beating and it was pouring rain, weather channles predicted that it may change to snow over night accumulating a coating to an inch with a 30% chance of showers. Just after 2:00 pm on the tram ride up I heard the rain stopping and by the time I got to the summit it was snow. It snowed all night and by moring there was 5-6 inches of fresh on the mountain, drastically improving the conditions. I only get to go to jay twice a year, and I only wish I could go more! ANd as for $425 a night, I just got an email saying that you can reserve a condo for $174 US pp/pn/do, this weekend. You should join the 242ers, they offer great deals. :dunce:

Granted Jay has gotten more snow than Stowe, Smuggs, MRG and the Bush, but it's going to mobbed this weekend. New snow and 3 for 1 deals there. I think I'll be sticking to Smuggs.

I was there that weekend. Friday and Saturday were pretty rough, but Sunday was indeed awesome.

I saw your post in the ski trip discussion forum, I think I might have seen you, since the flyer was having problems or something sunday morning my friend and I went up the metro quad and skied down Harmony Lane. I ended up like third or fourth in line for the flyer. We were taking pics in Beaver Pond, and a few people skied by, so maybe it was you?

I, along with my friend were first in line for the Flyer that Sunday. I was wearing a red jacket and black pants.

Jay's website says 3for1 is good on Friday, no mention of 2/13. Is the 2for1 deal still good this weekend?

Add-on: Just reserved a room at the Newport City Motel. Anyone been there? Where's good for breakfast Saturday morning?

I hope the snow keeps falling. Getting excited.

yeah, Newp city Motel is a decent option its across from cumby's. I've never stayed there, but I think its pretty decent, not dirt bag like. this broad that I know taught swim lessons in there pool or something and she said it was ok. Its about 1/2 hour to the hill and their are a bunch of great breakfast options on the way. The Brown Cow is real good and its with in walking distance of where you are staying, probably my favorite in Newport. My personal all time favorite is Junction 101 in Troy, its right on the way to Jay and I think they put something in the eggs cuz they are so good, real dank meat patties too. let us know how it goes!

just read the roemer report, calling for maybe 1-3 tonight, some activity tomarrow night and 2-6 sat and sun. I don't know though, he seems to really be beating around the bush lately, and seems to be marketing more than forecasting. I think 2"-6" means he doesn't know what is going to happen, not that I do either, but I don't ask people to pay for my reports. He does have some cool info, and he has been dead on with some dumps that nobody ever mentions, which is great. I guess I'm just sick and tired of having all of these possible nor'easters, and never having any of them happen, or when they do they hit the flatlands. Its just crazy cuz the 5 or so times we have had "winter storm warnings" posted for the area, only one time we actually got more than a couple/few inches and that was back on October 26th. but when nothing is really forecasted and the lake/jay effect kicks in we get a quaility nailing. Its not just for Jay either, but places like Burke who are probably hurting for snow big time. sorry for bi*ching and rambling but the "possiblity" of these nor' easters is getting annoying to me, I guess it won't be annoying when we finally get one, it will be F'n Rad!

3-for-1 on Friday was great, very few crowds, lots of nice snow in the woods, even the groomers were in fine shape.

Backcountry Sat and Sunday, lots of folks coming off of Big Jay, we skinned up instead. Pretty skied out by the end of the weekend.

I did Big Jay for the very first time on Sat. Had a great time. What a gem. Bluebird skies, good powder, good friends, good times.

Tons of folks skinning up from the access road. Actually saw a dude with a Prior Khyber Splitboard (and I thought I was the only one with one of those)

We hitched-hiked back to the lot, what a breeze... thanks to the dude from MA, whoever you are, in the Jeep Cherokee, that picked me and my buddy up around 1pm. 8)

Yeah, Saturday was pretty great- quite a bit of powder still in the woods. Really nice. 3for1 didn't hurt any at all- even printed an extra out at the hotel for the girl at the check in desk.
