Folks, knock Killington all you want, but these stats for tomorrow are hard to argue with:

Open Trails:
51
Open Lifts:
12
Miles of Skiing:
21

I give Killington credit for getting this much open under these conditions.

In my mind, northern New England
I agree. For all the stick K gets, you do appreciate their efforts especially in a season like this. Would like to hit K after Christmas but am blacked out on my pass. Heading to Sugarbush instead to use my Sugarcard voucher. It's looking like a good few days of skiing.

You won't hear me bitching about K. I wasn't around to ski it when everyone loved it so I have no frame of reference, but their lodge and management operations aside, they're doing a great job this year on the mountain.

Another way to look at it is that Okemo could have nearly 50% of their trailcount open this weekend, while Killington has about 25%. Props to Okemo

Percentage tells you nothing. Killington has like 78 more trails than okemo. So killington could have 80 trails open and okemo only have 70 but percentage would be higher at okemo.

To think other mountains besides Killington don't embelish would be premature. Okemo having realized they actually are a competitor in the last few years has become a prime offender as well. As of today, I wouldn't be suprised if Okemo had more open than Killington. Their trails are flat, have less natural terrain features and are easier to cover. That said, I think the higher elevation of Killington has been to their advantage thus far:

Stats as of today-

K: (I have subtracted Pico already)
Open Trails: 40
Open Lifts: 12
Miles of Skiing: 20

Okemo:
Lifts Open: 9
Trails Open: 37
Miles of Skiing: "14.6"

Not in Killington's trail count are 2 runs on hold due to weather. Not seeing many good runs open on Okemo's report, lots of greens/connectors/rinky dinks.

I am a fan of both mountains, each has their goods and bads. But this year Killington has done an outstanding job of living up to their traditional name and providing us the best they can thus far. They really got some great runs open in less than marginal conditions....This winter just sucks....

Yeah, Okemo had 32 open when I was there. Nothing too impressive. Jackson Gore had a few nice runs...what is that Vortex under the lift over at Jackson? Good conditions there.

I think so, that was good a couple weeks ago. Best run was Upper Limelight over to the left there.... Other than that WordCup, Defiance and Saphire/Timberline is about it for decent runs...
