Getting a little heated over the weather eh? (pun intended)
The guy didn't say where it was going to be near 70, so maybe we give some slack. I wouldn't be surpirsed if NYC gets near that next week. We all know the mtns won't.

Woa, everyone, calm down. Read the forecast discussions out of MA and NY, temps will be in the 60s next week, as far north as Nothern MA and even southern VT.
I wasnt implying Killington would or any mountains would get that warm, and when I said 70s, i meant towards me, I should have clarified, I am sorry about that.

I'm not trolling, and there are far worse things being said on this board than me posting some temps.

But you know what? I won't post anymore so no one has to get all upset over some weather predictions.

i think folks need to take a chill pill on this one. people are getting a little hot under the collar about skiing and taking it a bit too seriously. sure, call someone out for citing a fact without a source, but no point being mean about it and slandering. i for one have enjoyed joshua's posts even though i have occasionally questioned certain predictions. but you know what? it will be egg on a lot of people's faces if it does hit 70 any where in VT next week...

I'm sitting here doing some work on the PC looking out the window the sun set over the snow covered peaks of the Catskills... And yes it makes me psyched... It's been cold... In the 20's at night.. Waiting for a staff meeting on Tuesday to get the story on Hunter opening...

But I know that snowmaking will return in a few days.. And I'll be on a board soon...

But until then.. I'll just continue to winterize the house and enjoy the mellow feeling of the last couple weeks before ski season...

Then - It's on...

I hiked and skiied Kmart today. From what I saw on lower snowdon, I have a very hard time believing they will be able to open without a major freeze. The glades on the other hand could easily been open today.

I have a ton of pictures I'll get posted later tonight but I have a few things I have to take care of first including writing a paper, watching the pats and having a few cold ones.

i don't think joshua was wildly tossing around darts, his assessment of the situation has seemed to be proven correct. austin has a point and i for one will be disappointed if joshua has stopped posting because he received a mouth full for posting his forecast just because people didn't want to hear it because it didn't match their expectations....

I am curious as to what he thinks will happen with the El Nino forecast. Personally I think it will develop into a moderate to severe El Nino which would be a disaster for the U.S and skiing in New England. Mount Washington tied a record high today of 43F which also occured in 1935 and 1982. The 1982 date scares me a bit because 1982-1983 was a severe El Nino year, hopefully this is just a coincidence.

I don't want Joshua to stop posting and I certainly appreciate his enthusiasm. However, think back to last fall when he over-hyped things. November 30 rolled around last year and he was gone until this Fall. Now he's back and doing a complete 180, almost in a condescending way. Maybe I'm reading it all wrong. That's my take. I'll shut up now...

I hope Joshua keeps posting his weather input, he has been pretty much dead on with this forecast, better than any other forecast I heard last week. I didn't want to believe his forecast, but gave it respect since he felt strong about it and that he has a backround in meterology @ cornell. hearing different ski weather input is one of the main reasons why I use this forum, this makes me want to share some of my knowledge as well.

I can understand that some people got grouchy with his forecast, I didn't like to read it either, but it was a pretty good forecast. I'm interested in your input Joshua.

I think it was 2002 when K-mart was barely able to open for TG, then it dumped in december and was cold as heck the rest of the winter. its coming people, it gets warm in november most every year.
