You need to ease off on the wishcasting. It's going to rain up to about 4K this weekend. Maybe something better towards Monday, but your hopes for any sort of "base" by the time you arrive are, and always have been, futile.

WTF? Wishcasting? I said clearly "not hoping here". That was an hosest predivtion. And about the sprinkles, Thats what they will get. Sprinkles. That is it. Maybe something more significant from wilma, but those sprinkles are just that.

Here is the explanation given by BigChief on www.killingtonzone.com:

"They are not going to make snow tonight..killington just received 6 compressors yeasterday back from cleaning and they will not be online for a cpl of days. Killington is going to wait to see what hurricane wilma is going to do before they blow any snow..if it is going to bring r*in we arent going to blow snow until after it passes..Bummer i know...but what can you do"

BigChief is a new member of the K-zone and it sounds like he works at the mountain so I am looking forward to his posts in the future since the information he's posted in the past seems to be accurate. I am sad that they did not blow out the mice but can understand them not wanting to waste money if it is all going to be washed away.

The more I think about it, it is probably a good idea too. Blowing a 14" base and having it melt to a mere 2" would be a real killer. After wilma is outta the way, whatever it brings, they will be in the green. Or white for that matter.

models are showing cold air for monday with precipitation in the mountains, its possible they try to get four days in, while it may get a little warmer towards the end of the period, they may be able to squeek it out

if they dont start next week, kiss the 11th goodbye, and my earlier prediction of thanksgiving may come true

Look at the 12Z runs of both the NAM and GFS. They show enough cold air around for wintry precip Sat-Sun. The GFS is colder, taking the 850mb low east of NNE, whilethe NAM is slower and farther west.

The runs are agreeing, having the precip Sat evening. At Burlington, the NAM is showin a shallow melting layer at 5-6 thousand. If it holds through, wintry precip above 3500' is possible. To the west at MSS, indications are colder, and quite a bit of snow above 4k'.

why do they need to start next week? If they have a 3-4 really cold days then theyll most likely be able to open. I really doubt they will even start next week. They still have almost 3 weeks to go.

At one point I thought they might make snow but, powderhound and joshua, give it up if they were going to make snow they would have done it on thursday. As Austin says they have 3 weeks to go till Nov. 11, they arent going to start 3 weeks ahead of time if they only need 3 days. Common sense, not to mention they are a business and dont want to waste their money!
