In todays snow report they mention snowmaking on Superstar is complete:

Our snowmaking team will take full advantage of the cold temps in the forecast, and they will put in more work to get us open from top to bottom now that we have finished making snow on Superstar in preparation for the Stifel Killington Cup. We will continue to make as much snow as possible whenever possible to expand our open terrain.

Good week + window starting Saturday evening with one unfortunate interruption Tuesday/Wednesday.

Just posted up on K's social media feeds, they have received positive snow control from the FIS for the WC races. Now as long as Mother Nature provides good weather conditions for a safe race, it's on! Kudo's to the K snowmakers once again!

Kudos to the snowmakers, but we still don't have top to bottom

Sounds like Stratton will be a better choice.
I looked at Stratton's FB page over Thanksgiving weekend last year, they had 18 runs open and 85 acres of skiing. Not bad for an opening weekend. It looks like the weather towards the end of next week is really going to help them out snowmaking wise as well.

Again, Killington should cover the glacier. What is the cost compared to snow lost?

When I worked for the guys below; F - NOK was covering glaciers in the Alps.

i already have a room in manchester for next friday night. stratton is a great option for early season when everyone is only running a few man made groomers anyway. hopefully something open on each upper mountain pod so you get like 10 routes and 2 fast chairs serving 1400ish vert.

i think skiology matt is upset that k got snow approval. he loves posting clickbait saying they may not make it.

Truth!

He literally banned me from Skiology a few years ago when I posted the link from K's own social media annoucing that they passed snow control when even 24hrs or so prior he was convinced that they wouldn't have the temps long enough to make enough snow to pass snow control.

If the bet is between a Skiology Matt weather prediction and the prowess of the K snowmakers when they HAVE to get something done, I'm betting on the snowmakers 100% of the time, as they REALLY know what they're doing and talking about!

Agree - the only way that K would not be ready for World Cup is if the temperatures simply did not allow for it.

Thinking of braving the crowds at the World Cup next Sunday. Anyone have any advice on the ticketing options: $10 general admission vs $40 grandstand vs $90 premium grandstand ? Is the view really that much better in the top 5 rows of the grandstand to justify the premium grandstand price ?

IMO the $40 grandstand is worth it to give you a place to sit plus the view is good. Bring a stadium seat pad or blanket to sit on. The stands get cold on your backside. If you have a way of securing it down it kind of โ€œsavesโ€ your seat for the day.

Iโ€™ve never tried the premium grandstand, but I canโ€™t imagine the view is that much better.
