Heading up to LP next weekend for a couple of days. My wife is pregnant, so not skiing, and my son is 1, so also not skiing.
I want to ski (my brother, too) so I need somethign for the wife and son to do while we're skiing, at least 1 day. Trouble is, neither of them like the cold much, and while playing in the snow is fun for a little bit, it doesn't hold them over for a ski day.

Anyone know of any relatively warm activities in the LP area for a 1 year old and a pregnant lady?

Yeah, what Warp Daddy said. Not a lot of true "indoor" activities. Even wandering around the main drag you'll be in and outdoors but at least she'll be warm as she shops, and there are places to sit/relax if need be.

The tour of the Olympic Arena where the Miracle on Ice took place and its' associated Olympics Museum in that building, that would kill about an hour or so.

Also, there's a short dogsled ride you can do for $10 right there on Mirror Lake, the kiddie might like that too. Obviously outside, but they give you blankets and IIRC hot cocoa?

And FYI, Whiteface just reported in 10" new.... already!

EDIT: Oh, and if you can squeeze in a lunch or dinner at ADK Cafe, do so. You wont be disappointed. A little blink and you'll miss it spot that you'll pass in Keene, about 10 mins from Lake Placid, but the food is fantastic.

Thanks guys- we were there last year, and did the dogsled and the ramp thing, and a few others- I want to save those for my own fun, too!

She can do some shopping, but that's not her big focus. Basically, she doesn't want to be stuck in thehouse with nothing to do while I'm away.

I wish we were there now! At the least, it'll help build up base for next weekend.

The Lake Placid Brewery is fun for all ages!

Ubu's for adults, and frankly kids would love the atmosphere.

Hot yoga will keep her plenty warm (just make sure her "condition" will permit it).

You can score some points with an early Valentine's dinner- don't forget the chocolates/flowers.

A colleague & his wife like to snowshoe in the area- though it's outdoors, it might be fun. Bring a papoose for your toddler.
