There was a Radio Ron clip, but it looked a little narrow for Gunbarrel. Could be though. Didn't detect any other possible Sundown footage in the trailer.

He was at SB. Looked a little like the entrance to Stein's.

Well, I imagine that some of those resorts paid to have their name on the back. So maybe Sundown didn't....I don't know.

I think another NE ski movie outfit needs to step up and give these guys some competition. The shtick is getting old though I admire them for sticking with their "style". I just don't find myself as jazzed up for their annual release as I used to be. They need an "Epoch 2". It doesn't even have to be backcountry oriented. That movie just had something special to it and nothing has really come close since though BFI was a close second.

I still get jazzed for their annual movies because while their schtick may be getting old, it is still different than all the other ski movies out there. All the other movies have the same locations, same players, same helicopter shots, etc.. It would be great to have another Eastern concentrated outfit but I do like the Meathead's formula and my 7 year old loves their movies and has little interest in any other ski movies I watch.

I do agree with your point re: Epoch. I'd love to see something like that.

They still have a couple months to edit/produce/finalize stuff. I wouldn't take credits as gospel until the DVD is actually out.

I see "rad" used quite a bit lately, outside of AZ, which I attribute to Greg's campaign to bring the word back into favor. It's really catching on! :beer:

I'm not

What they do is unique to the East. They head out west and they're movies would get lost in the competition. Western ski film companies are a dime a dozen.


Another thing could be that they simply enjoy living here. If I was independently wealthy, I wouldn't move out west even though the skiing is better. I'd certainly make 2-3 trips a season, but the east is home.

All other western big mountain movies I find myself waiting for the 3 minute segment on an eastern area and I'm usually disappointed because 2.5 minutes of it will be park footage.

I agree with Steve that the shtick gets a little old sometimes, but they're still the best thing out there, IMHO. I too would love to see another Epoch-esque movie come out.

I don't watch the big western/international movies nearly as much as Meathead's stuff because I'll probably never visit any of the spots featured. I can relate to the Meathead's movies because it's locations that I'm much more likely to see for myself.

When you pre-order, do you get the t-shirt right away, then the DVD when its released? Or do they wait to send it all to you at the same time. Never pre-ordered before, but I'd like to get the t-shirt for Iceman to wear to ramp camp if possible...

If I remember correctly when I pre-ordered last year the DVD and T-shirt came together.

The trailer is good stoke, I'll have to pre-order it when I get home, I always look forward to their movies.

Dude, we should do it.

Let's get an AZ crew together a few times throughout the season at everyone's home mountain (although we have to schedule it early and make it firm). Then get Greg and me (not that I have a great camera, but it's okay) and a few other people to film it. We could make a ski movie the way we want. We could have solid mogul sections, contest footage (Sundown, obviously), humor sections by Steeze, mountain tours/ripfests by HPD, dmc, and others, Pow lines, terrain park footage, apres shots, and a wide variety of music to tie it all together.

AlpineZone - The Movie.

If nothing else, it would be a fun time.
