Skied at Sugarbush today. Rode up North Ridge Express with a guy who seemed eager to have a liftmate.
"How's it going?"
"Not well."
He drove up with his family from Philly to ski for the week at Sugarbush. His wife tore her ACL etc. on Lower Northstar/Which Way on Sunday. Not only that, but he hired a contractor to come and do some work at his Mom's second home, where they were going to stay. Something happened and the guy arrived to find that his skis had been stolen. :x
To top it off, they decided to bag it and head home after today, but needed to get his kid's rentals back. Sunday he was not able to get back to the shop, so he went to Ellen and learned that the kid's shoes were at Lincoln Peak, so he drove over there. :x
This guy was really bummed. He said that skiing was his life. So he begged SB management for a ticket so he could get "just three runs" before he went home. Kudos to SB. They gave it to him. So while his kid and wife waited, he got in his runs before heading back to PA.
And yet he was pretty upbeat...in part because he was demoing new skis. Good attitude...in the face of so many problems!
