Hate to be the bearer of bad news (hey... if I kill a thread, it is because I am presenting some facts  ), but I don't think any one was base building this past weekend. More later as I get some pictures uploaded, but that "holy cow" from Attitash is almost all completely gone. Bretton was laughable. Killington might have the edge due to their elevation, I suspect K was the only resort capable of serious base building this past weekend... but even then, after what I saw today, I am doubtful much if anything would be left at Killington by the weekend. More news at 9ish.
From what I saw K had a ton of snow stocked up where they were blowing...I am sure a lot is left

You really feel the need to crap on everything don't you? Once again you're obviously not the type of person they're trying to attract with offerings like this, so why don't you just keep your condescending trap shut and let the rest of us enjoy, OK?

Here's a news flash for ya, in case you haven't gotten it yet. Most of the people here don't think like you, nor do they want to. That I know, but I can only guess that, like me, they also don't like having your negative, pessimistic views shoved down their throats every other fricken post. Enough already! We get it, you're an angry lonely little man who's upset at the world for some mis justice you feel has been served. Now that we're all clued in why don't you go peddle your BS somewhere else..

CAN I GET AN AMEN?

I don't think you're really missing much. It sounds like it's ice crusted slop that they can't put a groomer on because it will sink it into the ground. Advanced skiers only might be an understatement. It will likely soften up in the warm temps tommorow afternoon though, thus the bizarre operating hours. Atleast those who are content to put skis on and slide around no matter how perilous have somewhere to do it though!

This is exactly what we skied on at Killington on Cascade and Downdraft to midstation for 20 years.... no one minded judging by the lines and smiles.

Stop the buzzkill, someone is open!

I never thought I'd have to say this on AZ, since it's such a mellow bunch, but is there a way I can block messages from a specific poster?

I don't think you'll need to worry about it, Michael. Here's where we stand - imagine snowman on the left, and Brian on the right:

The guy just didn't mesh well with the overall positive spirit of this board. Let's move on and enjoy the start of the 2007-08 Ski Season!

I wasn't trying to disagree with or show up Trekchick, sorry if it came out that way. I was trying to get an idea of when they were going to open, not knowing their scheduled start date. When I saw the job fair posting for the 10th I assumed that they wouldn't be trying to open until around T-Day. I don't think I was too far off base, I will admit that my reasoning may have been flawed though. I didn't read her post to mean that she thought they were starting late, more like they weren't starting early like the others.

No worries BV, didn't think that at all. Greg posted a list of the openings dates a couple of days ago, assumed you saw that...my bad. The action here has really picked up...

I hope you're not trying to ask how to block me!? Since I'm the one you quoted...

FYI, for anyone's future reference:

I'm not usually good with dates, so I just gloss over them when reading unless it directly pertains to something I'm interested in. Not that I'm not interested in the start of the season, but it's highly unlikely that I'll be visiting Stowe in the early season this year so I didn't pay much attention.

In any event I'm sure Stowe will do their best to have a decent offering by the time ESA rolls into town. I went a few years back (when it was still called ETU) and the conditions were pretty good considering the less than stellar start to the season up to that point. Of course it started snowing pretty good on our way out of town that trip... :(

They really did an amazing job of getting things in order last year with marginal conditions. I was amazed at how they came through.

This may be a dumb question, but what's ESA?

wa-loaf, I'm sorry, I should have been better at explaining.
This is the Trip Report from last year. It was soooooooo much fun.
I hear we have some great coaches lined up this year. The list should be up soon.

Really??? For that??? I mean yeah he was being negative as hell, but he WAS just giving his opinion and expressing his thoughts. Calling him out on it should be enough. Booting him=weak......

If it happened, which I suspect we really won't get a any feedback on because the moderators would want to just move on and be happy, it wasn't JUST negativity. He may not have been, he might just have gone stealth mode for a while.

When he starts calling Greg and other moderators dicks because they say they think he's wrong, that's crossing a line. Would you kick someone out of your house if they started repeatedly calling you a moron and a dick?

Nah, he's gone. His sig says banned on the old posts and you can't find him in the member list.

Yea, it wasn't his negative posts, or his insistence to argue every point endlessly, or his condescending elitist tone, but the personal insults that got him booted.

Like tcharron said, we're not really interested in discussing it, but lets just say that it was more than a little negativity in this thread that got him in trouble. We gave him plenty of chances to play nicer, he chose not to. Banning is not something that we take lightly.

Trust me, as the admin of this forum for over 6 years, I learned pretty early that you can never please everybody. For each person that feels he shouldn't have been banned, there's another that thinks we should have done it long ago. Banning is not something we enjoy, nor take lightly. We usually discuss it backchannel at length as we did in this instance. Three mods + me were in agreement that we should proceed here. I don't take it upon myself to ban until I discuss it with the others.

He had been warned several times privately. He could have effectively been banned well before last night, after calling members stupid, idiots, assholes and in my case a dick. He continually would berate members for not agreeing with him. He was not banned for his opinions, no matter how unpopular, but rather his delivery. My biggest problem was the types of responses he would elicit from normally civil members, myself included. Classic trolling right there which we have a policy against. Someone like that is not good for a healthy community site like this.

So as to not immortalize him, this is the last I'm going to speak about it.
