I checked out Stowes web site and it looks like they aren't jumping on the bandwagon to make snow just yet.

Every major resort in the country has many positions that need to be filled this time of year and it seems to get harder each year.
That wasn't really my point. To me, if they scheduled a job fair for November 10th then they're not planning on opening for at least a couple weeks after that...
The Bush has job fairs scheduled Sunday, November 18, from 11 am to 2 pm and Wednesday, December 5, from 4 pm to 7 pm. We had one last Sat as well. Most resorts don't need full employment until mid December nowadays. Stowe's announced start date is 11/21 so they do seem to be starting late per TC's point.
Warning about Trekchick, she's a mod over at EpicSki...she knows her chit.
Sugarloaf = photo op
Mt. Snow = half photo op, half actual base building
Attitash, K-mart, Bretton Woods, and Sugarbush = base building.
Snowman may be a jerk, but he is right about about Sugarloaf.
That won't last more than 2 days. You can see how shallow the snowpack is from the long distance picture, too. Also, add that the fact that they turned the guns off and used low-E guns, and I think it is quite obvious that snowman is actually right.
Nah, I just fake it.Warning about Trekchick, she's a mod over at EpicSki...she knows her chit.
I think the loaf had intentions on opening and it did not work. Everyone else was base building, but Sunday River and attitash. BW did its test on the 17th. That is when they did the photo shoot on Ski nh.
Still think we will see and early openings at Sunday river and Attitash.. The river would not have made to the base so early if that was not the case. Looks like mid station came back into play yesterday. Kind of hedging the bet.
Time will tell. So far your right on a couple of things. off on others.
The Loaf wasn't really trying, or they would have used some ground mounts and socked the air to them like they're doing at K and SR. They seemed to set out on a mission to make a trail LOOK white. Both they and I know how they could have made 6 times as much snow as they did. They know full well Low E's are useless in the conditions they had and were just playing. It was the wise play anyway given the forecast and the ground conditions.
I'd go more with:
Sugarloaf = Test with disappointing results designed entirely for photo op
http://www.brettonwoods.com/winter_sports/photos_and_cams
hit the photo option on right click down it shows the Sunday pictures. Further down it show the test from the 17th. just not the best computer guy.
make sure scroll down.
Ok.....but why did they make snow on sluice? With a bit more snowmaking, they could certainly open on that............
I get the impression that they didn't want to waste the energy on building a heavy base, with it being a risky week long wait for them to open this coming weekend. I'd bet that they could put down another foot or so on top of what they did, and open up....
