Hunter was awesome yesterday. But sun is required for anything ungroomed to be skiable. I must admit that Hunter did a fine grooming job yesterday and I actually enjoyed the 2 hours I skied on groomers until the sun came out.

Doesn't look too sunny for this weekend though.

I decided to stick close to home this weekend, so I am taking a day trip up to Belleayre on saturday. They have been making snow and are reporting packed powder conditions with 34 out of 43 trails open.

Sure I will no problem. Belleayre has it own fairly seperate beginner area that has gentle learning trails with no way to wind up on anything too steep. The beginner area also has it's own base lodge. Belleayre has made alot of snow in the past one week, while Hunter to my knowledge has not made any.

No, I don't think beginners should stay away from Hunter. I made the comment about ungroomed snow for the benefit of any advanced skiers who it might apply to.

Hunter too has a nice beginner area; I'm not familiar with Belleayre's beginner terrain. I'm not much for comparisons anyway.

I too heard that Belleayre made snow this week to recover from the warm spell we had...there were some cut off areas that required snow to be reconnected to main trails. Hunter didn't because they don't have that issue...Hunter blows alot more snow at any one time than Belleayre and has a large stockpile to last well into April.

I did post, actually I did my post with my wireless while my friend was driving back home. The skiing was great with 3" of new snow the morning we arrived.
