That's on Big Emma, which is on the lower part of the resort.

Oh man. Me thinks I live in the wrong part of the country. Listening to Rocky Mountain High and dreaming. Can't wait to get out there again. Keep it coming TB. I will live through your reports and pictures.

Looks to me like Alaska and BC might give us some snow back this winter finally. Drove through the Colorado mountains and the snowpack is looking about right, actually better than that. forecast is for a decent snowfall tonight, we're actually getting snow all the way down to grand junction tonight. The Tahoe pattern for next week is great also. It's been a weird couple winters for many areas of the west. We are due.

Spring 3 years ago was just amazing. More snow then I've ever seen in all my trips out west. Alta had like 200+" base in mid April. Buried cliffs. Since then not so much. It will come again.

BTW snoseek you've kinda been an inspiration to me. Was reading an old TR of yours where you traveled from Den to SLC and back hitting a lesser known gem on the way (Powderhorn). Flights to Den from here are significantly cheaper then SLC. Thinking of replicating your trip and maybe doing Ski Cooper and Ski Sunlight, or Monarch on the way. Would love a trip through the Rockies. How long a drive from GJ to SLC?

Thanks dude. Denver to GJ is a four hour drive with good roads. I would say GJ is about half way from Denver to SLC, it could be more like 4 1/2 hours but you can really push the speed as there's literally nothing on the Utah portion. I highly suggest sunlight or Powderhorn if there's any kind of fresh snow, both mom and pop with very few people but surprisingly good terrain. Monarch gets more snow but also can get a decent crowd. Also know that from Grand J you are centrally located so if you do the last minute hotwire kind of trip you can go in several different directions from there and have completely different weather patterns. If you don't mind driving it's fun as hell and an adventure for sure, try it!

Nothing to get too excited over since it will likely be gone in a few days....high of 57 F on Saturday in SLC.

TB when are they thinking about opening? T-day? Early Dec can be great out there. December 2003 (1st year w/condo) was epic. God I've got the western bug this year.

@MaineSkiFamily is heading to Alta / Snowbird February school break. I like the start winter is off too in LCC! I will be looking forward to TB updates as we gear up for our trip!

Keep me posted. Would love to meet you folks and do a few runs.

And diplomatic efforts are underway with the Mrs. to allow me to go skiing at Solitude either Saturday or Sunday. All I have to say is, "get it on, bang a gong, get it on!"

Definitely hitting Utah this season instead of Colorado. Trying something different than the usual summit county clusterF. Can't wait!
