snowmonster, i just put 2 and 2 together. i didn't see your thread in T&E until just now. I saw a dude with baby blue Langes that looked familiar in the lodge, i knew i should have said something.

1st visit to magic was great. we skied right up to the chair every time. we boarded the lift at 9:30. warmed up with a few runs on up your sleeve > vertigo. after 2 runs my buddy was feeling all the pains of his first day. we took a break after 2 runs. after break #1 we did two more run on up your sleeve and vertigo. after a break we hit wizard > talisman. then we did all of wizard and then wizard to sorcerer. after our 3rd break we hit twilight zone. i also hit the bottom part of redline. we got to the base and joel was spent. i was going to take one run without him but we noticed the lift stopped moving. after a 5 minute wait i said screw it and decided to pack it in with him. after we changed and got the car loaded we noticed the lift was still not spinning. looks like we left just in time.

i loved magic. i wish my ski partner had some more stamina. we only managed 7 runs with his feet and legs barking at him. talisman was great. sorcerer had some really nice loose snow along the sides. twilight zone was the bomb. thin cover but really fun and a sick trail. i also hit the enchanted forest each time we cut over to the grooms early in the day. can't wait to get back up there.

don't start with me. my ski bud was so sore on sunday morning that he didn't want to hit somewhere on the way home. he was killing me. we were off of exit 3 on 91 in vt. there were so many choices...

Magic was pretty much my 2nd home season of '06- that place re-teached me how to ski! Grassi- glad you had a good time. If you liked it this weekend then next time there's a storm sighting for the Londonderry area do yourself a favor and go back- it only gets sweeter.

i kept thinking that that place would be the sh(t with freshies. i will def. be back. i was happy how i skied talisman, sorcerer, and twilight zone. broomstick looked great but i didnt want to push joel. magician looked down right gnarly. puker bush everywhere. hans was roped off but listed as open. part of wizard had a rope and was listed as open but we ducked it.

I assume electrical failure-as I was 1/4 the way up, then the lift stopped for 20 minutes, then the aux. diesel kicked in and putted us along to the top.. beats a lift evac!!

Yup, electrical. Easy fix, but required travel for the rep to to come. I guess it was back online by 930 that night.

Was Magician open?
No rope on upper Magician yesterday. Still didn't hit it, looks pretty nasty.

I also made my first trip to Magic on Sunday and it was everything I read about here, a diamond in the rough with tons of potential. I hit it for a half day, started at 1pm so alot of the trails were tracked out, but there were nice stashes of powder on the edges to keep me happy. For a holiday weekend the longest I had to wait in line for the red chair(as if there was another choice) was 5 minutes. I only got in 4 runs but from that small taste I can easily say that Magic is my new favorite southern VT mountain, especially after a good storm. Compared to Okemo I don't have to take like 3 lifts to get in a long run, even though my legs got used to frequent breaks. All in all definitely worth it.

Was Magician open?

Yes it was. I stood at the edge and peered down, that is definitely some hairy sh*t.

I've only been to Magic 3 or 4 times and I think Magician was roped off every time. I just figured they pretty much always left it roped so it was reserved for those in the know..

Chris - we'll definitely hit up Magic again and give you a good beat-down. Sorry you left Vermont unsatisfied...
