OK - Hunter sent out emails and advertised this on their website, On Saturday did nothing!!!!! The place was mobbed and everyone inquiring about the benefit. No announcements - nothing, The ladies at the info booth knew nothing either.

The gave away Bud swag- which they do everyweekend. People fight for it - its crazy.

On Sunday they did have a few fliers out, and had a rafftle - major prizes, but noone bothered to stay with the snow and just normal annoyance at the place.

Hello from Hunter Mountain! We wanted to let you know that in addition to ALL of the awesome stuff going on this weekend: live bands, DJs, bar promotions, fireworks & more, we've got some special promotions going on to benefit the victims of the recent Haiti earthquake. Read the press release below for more info!

Hunter Mountain hopes to donate tens of thousands of dollars to survivors of the recent earthquake in Haiti , with the help of its Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend visitors.

Hunter Mountain will be offering a variety of ways for those to contribute to the relief effort at hand. Visiting skiers & snowboarders will be encouraged to donate a dollar at any point-of-sale location throughout the resort.

Raffle tickets will also be sold during Après Ski bar promotions sponsored by Dutchess Beverage & Anheuser Busch, who along with Hunter Mountain will be giving away thousands of dollars worth of prizes on both Saturday and Sunday. All proceeds from the raffles will be donated directly to the relief effort. Hunter Mountain will also personally match a percentage of all donations collected over the course of the weekend.

The resort will partner with OvrRride , an outdoor adventure tour bus operator who runs weekly service to Hunter Mountain and other eastern resorts from several convenient locations in New Jersey and NYC. OvrRide will run bus trips to Hunter Mountain on Monday, January 18. Hunter Mountain is taking $5 off each OvrRide group member's lift ticket; OvrRide will take an additional $5 off the cost of the ride, totaling a donation of $10 per OvrRride day-tripper. Sign up for the Monday OvRride group trips at www.ovrride.com.

"We're glad to be able to line up an effort to provide financial support in the midst of such disaster," says Brian Czarnecki, Director of Marketing & Sales at Hunter Mountain. "We look to our patrons to assist us in the support of the Help Hunter Help Haiti relief effort during this holiday weekend. With the combined efforts of Hunter Mountain and OvrRide, we believe we can contribute tens of thousands of dollars to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund in just three days time."

I seem to miss all this stuff...and I'm there 40+ days a season.

I'm just weird...I go to Hunter to ski and that's pretty much it.

Go figure...I go to a ski area to ski.

So. Sounds like Hunter had the events they referenced, just they weren't up to the standards you were hoping for?

Also, I was bored, and looked at your other posts. Almost every post you make is about Hunter, and probably 3/4 of your total posts are either complaining about Hunter, Hunter managment, or making accusations. Just curious, why on earth do you ski Hunter if you dislike everything they do?

Probably belongs to an evil ski conglomerate looking to drive the price down so it can be bought cheaper...

I would go for the Scooby Doo route and send in the pirate ghosts to frighten people at the sushi bar... But thats just me..

Hunter said they were having the event on Saturday & Sunday. The event did not happen on Saturday.
This also means that much less money was raised for those unfortunate citizens of Haiti.
It also meant that the mountain did not have to match the income from a 2 day event of which Saturday had a huge potential as the mountain was mobed.

I ski Hunter because the terrain at Windham and Belleayre in unacceptable for 40 (hopefully more) days a season. It however, is not the only place I ski.

Well, you're right about that.

Tougher now that I always daytrip...tough to get buzzed and then drive the police gauntlet home.

Wow, I guess I missed all the hub hub, but the skiing this weekend was supreme ending with Mondays snow. Spent 4 hours ravaging the powder that most people did not even wake up to ski. First tracks on Racers, then Upper Crossover , then Taylors, then 44 x 3 and then 4 times on the Highlands.

Great Bumps on K27, 42 and the seeded line.
