The real questions would the Maple Valley lifts pass the Vermont Tramways inspection? In their present state of neglect they probably would not pass inspection. With some work the lifts probably would pass, Magics lifts were idle for years and passed inspection after an overhaul.

Maple Valley has been for sale for many years. That is nothing new. As to the lifts, I really don't know. Calling either the broker who is selling the place or the Tramway Inspection Department of the State would answer the question.

Tis a shame about Maple Valley - we drove by there last month (or was it January) and the place looks like it could have really good potential. Looks like the river could be a good source of water for snow making, has a nice lodge, quick/easy access from the highway(relative) and a wide variety of slopes. Add to the fact that the slopes don't look like they've grown in too much and the lodge looks like it is still in good shape, but alas.

I always hoped they'd figure out some way to get a source of water for snowmaking to revive Hogsback. I know that Ascutney had at one point expressed interest in re-opening it, but the lack of a source of water for snowmaking seems to have been the nail that kept that coffin shut.

Agree w/Persee, it looks like Maple Valley is not in the ruins some areas fall into. Clearly visible driving by are the lodge which looks decent, some cats that aren't ancient and in general it looks like it could almost be operating today.

Though of course the lifts passing/failing tests would be a key issue. Also, the proximity to many other So. VT areas wouldn't help business. Would be great for school programs or private use...
