Not really. I have to provide $4200 whether I ride or not, which I have to do before September 30th of this year.

Thus, I can ride in August even if I haven't raised $4200 by August.

But say September 30th rolls around and I've only raised $3000. On October 1st $1200 will be charged to my credit card. And that commitment is made when I signed up in January... you can't sign up unless you give your CC details.

Wow..well even more props to you for commiting your own money..I don't understand why charities..especially in these tough economic times would be so strict..:-x

It's kind of the PMC's schtick to be a no BS, no apologies type event. They only want people serious about raising funds, because their contribution is so important to the operation of DFCI.

The PMC is the single biggest source of revenue for the DFCI on an annual basis. Last year the gift was $35 million. You don't raise that kind of money by being lackadaisical about it, especially since there are only a limited number of slots. They don't want those slots being filled up by people who aren't committed.

Just a reminder... to anyone in the area with a bike- I'm holding a fundraiser at my house in Dudley (63 Healy Road)... $40 for a full bike tune up to include:

drive train cleaning and lubrication
shifting adjustment
cable cleaning and regreasing
brake adjustment and pad inspection, wheel rim cleaning
check and tightening of loose bearings including wheel, crank and steerer bearings
wheel truing
tire inflation and inspection

$40 for a geared bike, $20 for singlespeed or kids bike

I'd love to see an AZ member there or two. It's a nice area, come out and see the countryside.

I don't think you mentioned when this is, unless you want people to show up for a tune-up whenever they want.

Ahhhh... Sunday the 5th.

Yeah, sorry, starting at 9 am. I cross posted in the bike forums in case anyone missed it. I'm a little scatterbrained today.

Not that that's out of the ordinary. But. Ya know.

Donation made, I added 43 cents to cover the free stamp you sent me on the return envelope. :) How close are we to a cure?

Inching closer daily. It's trench warfare. Remember "cancer" is a class of diseases, not a single animal. We'll likely never find one magic cure for them all, but as treatments and methods get better, we'll continue to improve the survival rate until almost all are nearly 100%. Thanks again.

Sending in my donation tomorrow. Not near what I would like to give, I'll try for more next year! Good luck Marc!

John, any and all support is greatly appreciated. I know what a house can do to the calendar and the checkbook.

Thanks doc! I rode by the practice the other day... up 44 out of Putnam and across 244, good hills.

I waved and shouted, but I don't think you heard me :dunce:

Good luck Marc! Looks like the weather will move on through today and you should have some good stuff for the ride!

Can't wait for the wrap up TR, as last years was a fun read! Have a good ride and don't get "rear ended" once you cross the finishline in p-town! ;)
