Yet another quality post.

Scotty, we're going to keep an eye on the snow report and probably make our decision tomorrow night. It will have to be Saturday for me since my GF has to work all day sunday. If we do go, I'll shoot you a message.

Jiminy is generally way overpriced, IMO. They cater to the well off NY and CT crowd. However, they do usually offer a quality product for a MA ski area. The do a good job with grooming and snowmaking, and even when it gets crowded their 6 pack keeps things moving along. For a smaller mountain, they have some pretty fun terrain. When they get enough natural snow, you can have a blast on the mountain biking trails through the woods if you know where to find them.

Thanks for the input. I thinking just Sunday for better snow and less ppl. If you go Sat. have a blast if any thing changes for Sunday let me know. I really looking forward to B East in MA this winter . You ever go their I hear great things.

Jiminy Peak makes Stratton & Okemo look hardcore, so they've got that going for them.

In the middle of winter when all the places are open and we have choices, It nice that some ppl want to go early drive 2 hours take turns at small hill then go home. I sure you be a K having fun on same one or 2 ways down but I will not spend 4 hours and gas money for that if same thing is half the distance from home for me. Have fun at your MTN. To each enjoy this hobby go have fun at what ever place you want that what important.

Berkshire east is killer with good natural snow. It's like a 2/3 scale Magic in some ways.

I am definitely down for a meetup there.

Sigh, had to get me teared up didn't ya?

I was actually scrolling through old pictures of Brodie last night. I only skied there three times before it closed down but one time was a crazy 20" snow day and I had no idea how to ski fresh snow and was ready to quit skiing. I don't remember a lot about it but I remember JFK scaring me at the time. Can it be skinned up or too grown in these days?

Definitely not grown in enough so you couldn't skin and ski. But it is private property so be careful.

I actually just found a ton of pictures I took in the mid 2000s a few years after they closed.

Jiminy has no part in it at all?

Kind of surprised it isn't a Hermitage type deal yet, would a lot more to open than Haystack did though. If I hit Powerball I would be torn between buying Tenney or Brodie.

They ran it in it's last years - even started to build a a snowmaking pond at the top, and said if they sold X amount of passes they would put in a detachable quad. Never sold the passes. They folded the area soon after.

It became a tubing operation for a couple years on Harps Hump, but that's it. I believe part of the sale was it could not be opened to the public again. They have since torn down most of the base buildings including the main lodge. When you grew up at a place and have so many memories it is beyond sad to see it gone.

I remember that and the big banners they had at both Jiminy and Brodie's entrances, it was 3000 passes. Oh what could have been. I wonder if they knew it was too big of a goal and planned to shut it down from the get-go. Some great pictures, loved the Irish theme. At least there is still Berkshire East and Magic.

I truly hope with all the investments in the past five years Berkie isn't digging themselves into a hole, I would cry if they went out. If only they would stop grooming everything it would be a mini MRG or Magic with better snowmaking. Very similar terrain with the steeps and ledges and an awesome lodge.

I didn't realize the Snowshed area was open yet.

What, high speed gondi laps of great northern aren't hardcore enough for you? How's the skiing at Stratton and Jiminy right now?
