There was a report posted here today that said Mont Orford in Magog, QC may not open this winter due to a labor dispute and lockout by the resort operator.

So I contacted my rental agent in Montreal today and got this reply (and no bitching about her English, cuz it's a whole lot better than our French....):
Dear customers,
This letter is to keep you informed about the situation at Orford for the ski season 2006-07.
The manager at Orford announced yesterday that they will be closed for the winter ski season 2006-07 because they cannot resolve the convention with the staff after their lock out. The staff said they’re ready to go back to work as soon as the manager will be changed and when the difference of money (we talk of about 20000$!!!) will be arranged. Since the manager signed an agreement with the government, which owns the hill, he has to operate the hill every year until the end of his agreement and if he doesn’t do it, like he said he will do, the government has the right to change the management team to resolve the situation and we know they are working on it right now and they have a special meeting today and tomorrow to try to resolve this as soon as possible with all members of CLD of MemphréMagog and both municipality are represented there. (Everything should be resolve before the end of this week)
So hopefully it gets resolved, because spending a week in Magog and skiing at Orford is the high point of my winter, and there's about 30 of us that are going to need to make alternate arrangments if we get closed out of Orford in February.
