I usually spot a few lesser-spotted Weegies when I'm at Glencoe. Actually, they should really be called more-spotted Weegies as they're absolutely everywhere

Saw a Denim Daredevil at Pat's Peak last year.

Also, last year spotted a Male Fartbag with a female offspring, note the plumage on the juvenile...

I've seen a Moose on some trail at Killington in early season. Scared the crap out of me as well... I was hauling down the trail and really didn't expect to come around a bend and be staring at a Moose not more than 50 feet away. I don't think the moose ever noticed I was there, or if he did, he didn't care.

I'm surprised to see them "up" in the mountains, like in the Jackson Hole picture above or in my Killington experience. I thought they preferred the streams, etc. I guess once the food gets scarce they go where they need to to find it.

I hit a squirrel that was running across North Slope at Stowe earlier this year. The squirrel wasn't running quite fast enough. :-(

Who can forget the guy who hit a deer at Sugarloaf last year and his wife was worried the deer was hurt!

I saw a porcupine waddling across a trail at Shawnee this past December. It had a very strange gait. It crossed the trail and climbed a tree.

I was mountain biking off one of the gravel roads near Dean Hill Road in Killington about 10 years ago in the Fall and I saw something out of the corner of my eye and thought it was someone on a horse coming out of the woods. I looked up and it was a Moose! slammed my brakes and shot up some gravel on the moose. She was startled and jumped across the road into the woods. I must've been about 5-10 feet from her. My heart was pounding and I took off. About 200 feet down the road I came across a Calf walking directly in front of me. He stopped and looked back at me over his shoulders and then turned left and ran through someones driveway and through the backyard. I assumed the adult was the mother so I took off as fast as possible just in case she decided to come looking for her calf! That was awesome! Funny thing is we went up into the Breadloaf Wilderness earlier that day hoping to see a moose and got back to our house we were renting on Telefon tr. I decided to take a spin around the neighborhood and that's what happens!

I have seen coyotes, deer, porcupines, fox, squirrels, ermine while skiing at Sunday River. An ermine like this guy hangs out near the top of North Peak

My wive ran over and killed a squirrel years ago. She swerves to miss frogs while driving, but sliced and diced the little red squirrel.

Last Monday at Jackson Hole after a quick dash down Moran Face on my way to the Apres Vous chair I had a close call with a Moose. I made a hard left on to a cut-off and she was just standing in the middle of the trail so I skidded to a stop and snapped a few pics.

The experience was a good reminder that we are only visitors into the mountains. It was a much better experience than I had last year at Copper Mountain where they shot and killed a coyote on the slopes while we were there.

Anyone else have any interesting wildlife encounters at a resort?

Awsome pics. I recognized that moose anywhere. :-o The is is the same one that was hanging out near the Jackson Hole AV chair the first week in Feb. 2009. Moose are very common sight at JH. I have probably seen a dozen different moose at JH over the years. Even more common to see moose poop in the middle of the JH trails. Be careful out there.

Did you drive over to the back side of the Elk Refuge around dusk? Good time to see Elk, Big horn sheep, Coyotes, and my favorite Wolves.

I saw a Black bear walking under Lift 7 at Belleayre. I have also seen a female Black Bear with two grown cubs near the service roads at Hunter Mtn .

My buddy and I have seen a Mountain Lion run across the road while driving to Plattekill Ski area. He was about 20 feet away and we got a good look at him. Big long tail and very big feet. Awesome sight.

Wow. We probably road up the new Tram together. That one day with the inversion, zero degrees at bottom and 26 at the summit was a great day. As a no new snow weeks goes at JH it was actually great skiing. JH is either awesome deep powder/zero visibility or just great snow conditions with blue sky visibility. Its all good at JH. Rendezvous bowl did not get any smoother the entire week, which is very different from previous years.

One of the young fellas in our group did Corbets Couloir while his Dad watched. He crashed and is ok. At Billys Burgers I mentioned that he jumped in. Everyone was asking him questions. His best line was. "Corbets is a real nice trail to ski once you climb back up and collect all your gear".

This being my 8th year at JH I realized I have never been on the sweatwater lift below the Casper lift. I skied down through the trees over there and finally got to ride this chair lift. There is nobody on this lift. It was close to empty. I guess now I can finally say I have been on every TRAM, Gondola, and Chairlift at Jackson Hole. Ok ok it only took me 8 years but I got it done.
