I had lunch with a porcupine at Snowbird...I had a sandwich, she had an apple.
Ran into a baby elk at JH...didn't stick around to meet the mother though.

Wow. We probably road up the new Tram together. That one day with the inversion, zero degrees at bottom and 26 at the summit was a great day. As a no new snow weeks goes at JH it was actually great skiing. JH is either awesome deep powder/zero visibility or just great snow conditions with blue sky visibility. Its all good at JH. Rendezvous bowl did not get any smoother the entire week, which is very different from previous years.

One of the young fellas in our group did Corbets Couloir while his Dad watched. He crashed and is ok. At Billys Burgers I mentioned that he jumped in. Everyone was asking him questions. His best line was. "Corbets is a real nice trail to ski once you climb back up and collect all your gear".

This being my 8th year at JH I realized I have never been on the sweatwater lift below the Casper lift. I skied down through the trees over there and finally got to ride this chair lift. There is nobody on this lift. It was close to empty. I guess now I can finally say I have been on every TRAM, Gondola, and Chairlift at Jackson Hole. Ok ok it only took me 8 years but I got it done.

The Sweetwater lift has only been at Jackson Hole for three years..I think I rode it once on my recent trip..I'm all about the Tram and Gondi on hardpack/cold days and the Thunder and Sublette chairs on powder days..

I almost rain into a Moose at JH just before you were there. If I had turned left vs. turning right, I would have had moose tracks on my back for sure. This was in a pocket of woods to the skiers right of the Nastar course just above the Casper Lodge. They smell funky.

thanks for the info. They must have installed that lift during the night and didn't tell anyone about it or I was living under a rock. SkiLifts.org says it was installed in 2005 and use to be the former Eskimo triple from Winter Park.

The last day of last years ski trip all JH lifts were closed due to high winds except for the Teewinot. So we rode the Teewinot over and over and over hahahahaha You got to love the Teewinot lift when that is all you got.

I think my favorite lift at JH this year is the TRAM. It was truly enjoyable this year with the short TRAM lift lines. It makes a big differences hauling 100 people per TRAM car versus the old TRAM's 50 per car.

In 2006 it snowed more than a foot..than there was a major inversion..40 degrees at the top..0 at the base..and the terrain off the Sweetwater lift was cold smoky powder while other areas higher up were refrozen crud..Jackson Face is a very overlooked part of Jackson Hole mountain resort..a legit 1,000 vert or so..

That's great! I can't believe some of the things that you can come across on the slopes of a resort.

I have two moose sleeping in my back yard right now. The Cow and Calf have been around all week. It's that time of year. I live on the Gallatin River and we get them every winter. Yeah, they seem stupid but they are really fast and really dangerous. Sometimes we can't get out to or from our truck. It's their place. They were here first.
