At SB North I enjoy Hammerhead and Tumbler. They are on opposite sides of the GMX and are both pretty narrow and usually ungroomed with natural snow. 2 fun runs IMO.

I like Hammerhead as well, but I haven't skied it since pre-Slide Brook lift days when the first GMX was in place.

Not too goo too off topic here, but I ski K all the time....and I dont find really anything but the steepest tree runs there challenging. Maybe I need new ski partners. The trees are only challenging becasue they are soo tight....mmmmmm east coast hardwoods......

Im not saying I dont like the mountain, becasuse I do love it, and its is the mountain I call "home" for now......im just saying I don't think its all that "hard" for an experienced skier...one of the toughest things is avoidance awareness... :)

Well, if you want new ski partners and you haven't already done so, go to killingtonzone.com . Some good people there that know the mountain really well. Just don't get thrown of by some of the online behavior, they can get a bit rowdy online.

If he is moving to northern NH he'll probably never ski k-mart again. Or then again he might be crazy.

pretty much all of burke is under rated. i was talking to a couple at bush when i was there and i mentioned burke had some of the best cruisers in new england. they couldn't believe it!!! so i say all of burke is under rated, hard to pick out specific trails. the birches and the jungle are a pair of the tightest tree runs that i have skied in VT.

i will also add every trail off the kennabo tbar at saddleback. black wizard and intimadator are the two tightest tree runs i have ever skied. standing at the top of black wizard was the first time in many years i paused at the start of the run wondering if i was good enough to hack it. seriously.

Top Gun at Sunday River--it's jammed between the incredibly popular Right Stuff and the view-from-the-lift-goodness of Agony and is one of the gnarlier GS trails in the East, albeit slightly on the short side.

How about Lucifer or Sorcerer at Magic? Not as in your face as say Red Line or Master Magician, but fun lines. Using River Coil's Burke 'rule' may be all of Magic is under rated.

You beat me to that one. Not just for challenge, but also for asthetics. Just a beutiful place.

I'll have to throw in Slide of Hans and Vertigo. Slide is short, but holds snow well and has the Hans Thorner signature "stair step" drops to it (like the bottom of Master). For that matter, Sorcerer doesn't get much press, get it has a good pitch to it and can bump up nice.

magic at least has some highly rated trails in terms of challenge. red line and master for sure are appropriately rated. you could argue that other trails at magic are under rated, but most people consider magic the "MRG of SoVT" and "the most challenging terrain in SoNE" so i don't consider the mountain under rated overall.

nice pic, austin. check out how the distance between the edge of muleskiiner and the rest of the mountain! you couldn't even tell there are thinned out glades in that pic ;)

Cathedral Brooke at Belleayre. Most people don't even know it exists, or how to get to it. If the Beast isn't running you have a 20 minute hike to the top, or duck the rope for the middle which is the best part anyway.

I think Nor'easter was the most underrated and difficult trail in CT this year.
I'll second that. Who'd a thunk a little blue trail in CT could provide as much fun as that run did...?

Did that once, good run, and a good thing someone told me to make a turn at one point, otherwise they said I would have wound up in town. I remember the fun part of tucking tree branches as I was going over bumps :)

Ryan Bas is a great run that often gets no recognition (because its at Tremblant which gets little respect as far as its skiing goes). It's got tons of narrow rolls, a section of descent pitched moguls, followed by a swamp, and then a steep little dive over a frozen little waterfall-like pitch.

Id like to add Kinsman Glade at Cannon, those whove done it know its bar none the best gladed trail in the east. Tight, steep and a solid 2000 vertical Id say. Maybe just a tad under.

It's even easier now that they connected it with the rest of the place. I had to hike out in some pretty deep stuff before.
