what would you say to the shareholders, to try to change their minds, if you had 20 minutes in front of them?

Just curious since in reality, they are the ones who hold the answers.

Interesting I guess. I don't agree with MRG's policy on snowboarding but I don't really care if it changes or not. Give it time.

Wow...four whole mountains in the USA, that's just so restrictive to boarders.

There is really nothing to say to them. I fell that MRG is a dead issue. It is the way it is becasue the shareholders want it that way. Unless the snowboarding community puts forth a massive effort to buy a majority of shares and take over the mountain you will need two planks to slide paridise. I see Alta and Taos eventually giving in to the pressure but never MRG.

Yes it is only four mountains. But how many families will not go to these mountains because there is a boarder among them. The percentage of families that participate in snowsports that do not have a member that is a snowboarder is pretty low and is dropping every year. How does this affect the surrounding community?

I don't subscribe to the "snowboarders destroy good bump lines" theroy. For the most part snowbarders avoid bumps. The ones that do venture in are better in them than half of the skiers that will try to charge a line. I am not trying to :flame: just my obersvation. I would think that the bumps are better at those places because they are know for thier terrain and therefore attract better skiiers or boarders if they were allowed.

Good snowboarders don't destroy bump lines, the problem is that bad snowboarders cause a lot of damage, while bad skiers don't cause nearly as much damage.

I can cause tons of damage sideways sliding down a bump run on my skis. Its not the type of ride, its the user.

Even though the only kind of skiing I presently do is the nordic variety, I have to say that I respect MRG's tenacity. Its true that skiers and boarders take different lines and as a whole may have different terrain preferences; as such, I secretly pine (not secretly anymore) after an all snowboarder mountain. Will it happen soon? Nah, but Mt Baker is close enough.

If there are a bunch of grumpy skiers who own a mountain and want to prohibit snowboarders, more power to them. I'm glad that they can carve out a piece of paradise for themselves.

This being said, I would love to ride MRG.

I agree 100%. Of the remaining 4 mountains that have a snowboard ban in place I would say that MRG is probably the only hill and surrounding community that would not greatly benefit by opening their slopes to boarders.

I secretly pine (not secretly anymore) after an all snowboarder mountain.

Although I would like to see this I am afraid that the snowboard image combined with the beginner and intermediate riders that get caught up in this image would ruin it. I personally enjoy riding with skiers. It gives me a different outlook on the terrain and challenges me do ride lines that I would not necessarily seek out on my own.

I love bump snowboarding. It's tough but fun. You have to jump turn each bump. Anyway...I feel that as a snowboarder not exacly mad at mad river...more like dissapointed. Disapointed that I can't ride it! If they won't let us in whatever. There are plenty other nasty plces to ride.

I guess I am trying to say I want to ride there but i believe strongly, that in time we will be let in. So give it time.

Oh and I read that by the year 2015 the number of snowboarders will overtake the number of skiirs.
