Date(s) Skied: 12.19.2010
Resort or Ski Area: Mt Washington
Conditions: Occidental Powder
Trip Report:
We went and skied absolute cold smoke blower pow high above an undercast today. The prettiest day I've ever skied by far. Snow conditions were surreal. I'll likely never to my dieing day be able to explain exactly why the snow was just so perfect. I'll chalk it up to "lucky magic snow" gifted to us by Ullr.
Indeed, some of the best days of powder skiing are purely a matter of luck; one might say they are accidental. As it turns out, we got spooked off steeper terrain by an alarmingly weak layer that failed without any stress added to it once it was cut free from the rest of the snowpack. This TR is about our “plan B.”
